US President Barack Obama has said a controversial oil pipeline in North Dakota which has seen months of protest could be re-routed.

In an interview, the president said he would allow the conflict to play out for "several more weeks" to see if the issue could be resolved.

The controversial Dakota Access pipeline crosses an area near a Native American reservation.

Riot police armed with pepper spray clashed with protestors on Wednesday.

In an interview with NowThisNews, President Obama said his administration was monitoring the clashes closely.

"My view is that there is a way for us to accommodate sacred lands of native Americans," he said, "and I think right now the Army Corps is examining whether there are ways to re-route this pipeline.".......

The Dakota Access Pipeline is an embarrassing issue with the Democrats base Leftist voters and Native American voters not seeing any action to stop the pipeline from Obama.

Obama is trying to undercut the Left and Native Americans with this 'reroute the pipeline' sop.

Obama's statement shows that he is supporting this oil pipeline.

In a previous life, I believed that Democrats were left wing anti business, anti energy development extremists.

But now with WikiLeaks showing us the big business ties to Hillary we can see how it works for Obama, too.

We got Obamacare which opened the spigot for a bigger cash flow into the healthcare industry with mandatory insurance coverage to bail it out and capped business costs for healthcare with the "Cadillac Health Care Plan Tax".

And now we have Obama approving and promoting an oil pipeline (Dakota Access) of all things after shutting down another one (Keystone XL).

I smell the kind of crony capitalism Sarah Palin discovered with the relationship between the energy industry and the Frank Murkowski Republicans in Alaska.

We have a Corporatist Uniparty system with D's and R's talking to the Left and Right, but doing what the big money tells them to in the end from TPP to the Iran Nuclear Deal to Dakota Access Pipeline etc. etc.

It's a rigged system and that's why I'm voting for Donald Trump.

I'm sympathetic with the protestors and hope a President Trump will send in someone like Sarah Palin to sort out the corruption behind the pipeline project and come up with a good solution.

It doesn’t even pass through the reservation. Almost betting that the Tribes let them pass through their reservation....so they can get some bucks out of this.

LOL, then why are they campaigning that the pipeline shouldn’t happen? It is doublespeak if I ever heard it.

I don’t know all the answers, but I do understand they are concerned about the watershed impact of the pipeline and also contend its being built on land promised to American Indians by the Treaty of Ft. Laramie in the 1850’s.

But the federal government ended up breaking that promise.

This protest is strong and sustained by Leftist activists and Native American protestors from all over the USA.

The police in North Dakota have limited resources so the Republican Governor declared a state of emergency.

Its a state of emergency like the one in Maryland when all the “Freddie Gray” rioting occurred.

This has opened up North Dakota to get militarized police reinforcements from across state lines like Baltimore did back then.

Hundreds of police from Minnesota, Wisconsin, Ohio and other states have been imported to push back the protestors so the pipeline construction can continue.

These people don’t want the pipeline, that’s clear enough and they are fighting federal power and militarized police like those that came to Oregon to put down the protest against federal power over other “Western lands”.

Patriot protestors like David Fry from Oregon and other Patriot activists like Gavin Seim are in support of the Dakota Access protestors.

I agree with them and see crony capitalist corruption with politicians and energy industry just Sarah Palin found in Alaska when the chaired the oil and gas commission there.

“Re-routing” is a give back to the unions.

Locally, that is usually what has happened. What gets me is the media again. Our local paper is biased towards the tribes as we have 3 reservations nearby and Bemidji State University is steadily becoming more progressive.

Last week the protesters, in North Dakota, had a pickup on a bridge with logs piled behind it so that the logs could be set on fire in which the pickup would also catch fire. So the burning pickup would land in the water they say they are trying to protect. There were also piles of tires set on fire spewing black, stinky smoke into the clean air. Plus they have driven vehicles to their encampments. Local livestock have been killed or injured and left and some show signs of being butchered and removed (heads left behind).

On Tuesday, in Bemidji there was a solidarity gathering near the waterfront, then they marched to Bemidji State University for a Skyped gathering (with ND protest) and a meal. They of course drove their vehicles to the event. Winter is coming and much heat is required in Northern Minnesota. As long as there is subsidized heating I guess they don’t have to worry about how it gets to their homes!

They are being encouraged by out of state activists and people aligned with the Administration.

“Sacred lands”. BS. Just go to a real reservation and see how sacred it is.

Go to the Dakota Access Pipeline website and read all the attached filings then come back tell us how DAPL has failed to meet detailed requirements for environmental or cultural issues.

American Eagles can sacrifice endangered eagles for their feathers, according to the environmentalist Obama.

That isn’t the issue....its about politicians who tell their supporters one thing, then take money from business to do what their supporters don’t want.

Its about crony capitalism in this country from the Democrats in this case who tell the Left and Native Americans they care about the environment then turn around and allow the pipeline to be built.

I listened to the NPR report on this yesterday. They were making fun of Obama. It was obvious that the comment by Obama was him talking out of his a$$. They said that nobody involved in the pipeline has heard anything about it and the idea is absurd when you look at the cost of the project and where it currently stands, both in construction progress and legally. Obama was doing what he does without a teleprompter: Talking like a fool.

But he is the president, so an hour later, on NPR, the news story was that “Obama says pipeline may be rerouted.”

This is a nothingburger. The protesters will be rounded up and the project will continue, without a reroute.

The Obama Administration-Democrats may be in there promoting the fire setting to discredit the protest since Obama is fully committed to building the pipeline, maybe with a rerouting.

The Leftist-Native American protestors are undermining Obama’s crony capitalist project. He needs to discredit them.

Its reminds me of the Republican Party leaning groups in Oregon like Oath Keepers and III Percenters who first opposed the protest at the wildlife refuge (all GOP presidential candidates called for it to end as well), then showed up being militant and militaristic, giving the protest a bad image.

They ran away when the FBI arrested protestors and LaVoy Finicum ended up being killed in the ambush.

That’s a crap statement.

I live about 50 miles from the rioters in ND. They NOT patriots in any way shape or form. They have camped on private land and killed and butchered farmers cows. They have threatened private landowners. They do not deserve to be supported in any way. And the blab about federal power and militarized police like is pure garbage.

It’s so stupid. Oil trains cross the river about 20 miles to the north and nothing is said about that.

They don’t tell you they wanted like twice what they were offered to cross the reservation, DAP said no we’ll go around. Now they are mad.

90% of the rioters arrested are from out of state. They are not wanted here. Even the tribe is sick of them.

If Trump wins he should threaten to route the pipeline through the property of some of the protestors.

“I’m sympathetic with the protestors”

Why? Its a bunch of socialists, invading land that isn’t theirs, to stop a project that doesn’t touch land they own, that is infinitely safer than rail transport...and all being done in the cause of nutty pagan superstition.
