Locally, that is usually what has happened. What gets me is the media again. Our local paper is biased towards the tribes as we have 3 reservations nearby and Bemidji State University is steadily becoming more progressive.
Last week the protesters, in North Dakota, had a pickup on a bridge with logs piled behind it so that the logs could be set on fire in which the pickup would also catch fire. So the burning pickup would land in the water they say they are trying to protect. There were also piles of tires set on fire spewing black, stinky smoke into the clean air. Plus they have driven vehicles to their encampments. Local livestock have been killed or injured and left and some show signs of being butchered and removed (heads left behind).
On Tuesday, in Bemidji there was a solidarity gathering near the waterfront, then they marched to Bemidji State University for a Skyped gathering (with ND protest) and a meal. They of course drove their vehicles to the event. Winter is coming and much heat is required in Northern Minnesota. As long as there is subsidized heating I guess they don’t have to worry about how it gets to their homes!
They are being encouraged by out of state activists and people aligned with the Administration.
The Obama Administration-Democrats may be in there promoting the fire setting to discredit the protest since Obama is fully committed to building the pipeline, maybe with a rerouting.
The Leftist-Native American protestors are undermining Obama’s crony capitalist project. He needs to discredit them.
Its reminds me of the Republican Party leaning groups in Oregon like Oath Keepers and III Percenters who first opposed the protest at the wildlife refuge (all GOP presidential candidates called for it to end as well), then showed up being militant and militaristic, giving the protest a bad image.
They ran away when the FBI arrested protestors and LaVoy Finicum ended up being killed in the ambush.
