Last week, someone in the know said that when a PD is looking at info in a computer, they automatically make a backup of everything. Then they work from the backup device, leaving the original intact. So it sounds like there’s at least one backup. Probably two backups, considering NC was/is working on the Weiner case, too.

The way I would do it would be to copy the raw disk onto another disk. that way there is the possibility that parts of deleted files and deleted file metadata can be recovered. Raw disk images tend to be much larger than thumb drive capacities.

You can bet that NYPD has a complete , forensically verified true copy of the hard drive of Weiner’s Lap Top.( Easy to do using “Ghost” software.)
Even IF the FBI destroyed Weiners lap top, the data is preserved, likley preserved in several locations public and private, by the NYPD.
And do not think any of this is purely serendipitous. Donald Trump is very close with the NYC Police Union and the NYC police commissioner.I expect he knew about what was coming for weeks....he has been calling Clinton a criminal who should not be allowed to run for ablut a month now. And he is right , yet again.
Trump has the ability to fight the Dems on their own dirty terms....and win. Great quality to have as a president.
