Some Venezuelan city dwellers are trying to grow their own produce to offset the countrys severe shortages following socialist President Nicolás Maduros calls for food sovereignty.
But in a country where families are going hungry as a result of government mismanagement and sky-high inflation, many view the Great Agro-Venezuela Mission with skepticism.

Someone needs to tell Maduro that you can make flour from crickets. It is very nutritional.
How much more suffering must occur before the world gets the message that Marx was totally wrong?
I continue to be amazed that the haven’t started a revolution. With Communism, it’s almost impossible to “unring” the bell I guess.
Ping.
Takes too long.
If they would only grow zucchini, they would never go hungry again. At least that’s my impression when people try to give the stuff away at church.
Coming to a country near you. I would be buying seeds and figuring out how to grow them if I was you.
Grow your own food so the government can confiscate it and share it fairly.
They can download a North Korean tree bark soup recipe.
How soon will we be planting more Michelle Victory Gardens? Remember Hillary wants her to have a Clinton cabinet position!
Yeah, takes a long time and there’s a huge learning curve.
Seed saving, pollination, finding proper varieties for your land and growing zone, soil improvement, water management, crop rotation, all the various ripening and harvest times, pastures, chicken feeding, diseases, predation, butchering.
People who want to be more self-sufficient should start learning now even if they don’t have land yet (you can learn canning, meat curing, food preparation, etc.). It’s too late to catch up all at once if the economy goes to pot.
This is the stuff of failed governments.

My dad’s a gardener and has to give some to us every year because he has way too much (and we have plenty of our own). It’s definitely a fantastic yielding crop in not very much space...and the Mrs. makes zucchini bread (yum).
I guess Collective Farms didn’t work, eh, Comrade?
Risky business. You would probably go to all that trouble to grow some veggies, just to have a bigger guy than you steal them off you when it came ripe.
It won’t. Because it is cyclical, because democrats or some other socialist party will develop under “fairness” and create a group of socialists who demand free stuff.
“food sovereignty.”
I love the leftist jargon: “food sovereignty”, “food deserts”, “displaced peoples”, “underserved communities”, “peoples of color”, etc., etc.
I guess it’s God’s way to give us a few laughs since we have to live with these idiots.
Reminiscent of how, when suffering a severe rat plague, China started the meme of how rats are good food and a great source of protein...only the rats existed - can you imagine city folks trying to grow enough food to feed themselves with - not enough window ledges/roof space available and the dirt will probably be taxed....
