“We had guys coming in buying guns, buying a couple of them to put up for down the road. You had guys coming in just buying the ammunition,” said Jeremy Hopkins, of Mark’s Outdoor Sports.
Mark’s Outdoor Sports said it saw a definitive uptick in sales right after the debate.
“The thought process being if a certain candidate was elected, these guns, you may not be able to buy them maybe after the first of the year. So they’re wanting to go ahead and buy them just in case you won’t be able to purchase them anymore,” Hopkins said.
Right now, the store is out of Ruger AR-15s after selling more than 30 of the guns last Friday alone. They’re expecting a new shipment any day now.
Hopkins said the surge in gun sales hit their store a little earlier than expected in an election year, but that supply appears to be good, for now.

Anyway, the neat part about owning any of these is that citizens of those countries where they’re made can’t own them, which is kind of sad. I offer the French MAB Model 15 as proof. Hope to find one someday.
