Republican candidate Donald Trump holds a one-point lead over Democratic rival Hillary Clinton ahead of tonight's final debate, according to the new IBD/TIPP Presidential Election Tracking Poll.

After more than a week of blistering attacks from Democrats, celebrities and the press, Donald Trump has managed to pull ahead of Hillary Clinton by 1 percentage point - 41.3% to 40% - in a four-way matchup.

Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson got 8% and Green Party candidate Jill Stein got 6%

IBD/TIPP has been the most accurate pollster in recent presidential elections.

In 2004 and 2008, IBD/TIPP had the smallest deviation from the certified results, and across the last three presidential races, IBD/TIPP has the lowest average divergence.

In the 2012 race, polling analyst Nate Silver, then of the New York Times' blog FiveThirtyEight.com, ranked 23 presidential polling organizations using his own methodology and called IBD/TIPP "the most accurate" tracking poll for the year.

Most of Johnson’s voters, and about 1/3rd of Stein’s will break for TRUMP at the last minute, I believe.

The country’s known Hillary for 25 years, and all she can manage is 40%.

So the other 60% is suddenly going to decide they like her?

I don’t think so.

Starting tomorrow, I think we’re going to see some significant movement toward Trump.

Folk didn’t have to commit until now, but it’s getting down to the wire, and I expect the late breakers to go Trump.

Everybody's known Trump longer than that and up until he ran for president most people liked him.

7.6% and 5.5% for Johnson and Stein? While I am glad to see Trump in the lead, these percentages are way too high. 2% and 1% is probably top end for the two. Then there's the 1.1% for "other" (0.5% being the top end cumulative beyond the main four), and 4.5% who are unsure. I have issues with a poll with almost 19% for someone other than Trump and Hillary.

Hillary is at 40%. If this is close to the truth, does anyone believe she can top 45%?

Let’s see the media, especially Nate Silver who named IBD/TIPP the most accurate polling service in 2012, spin this.

1. I'm a fan of Jill Stein for saying Trump is better than clinton.

2. Same with Johnson.

This close of a poll doesn't overcome the voter fraud. I live in Minnesota where voter fraud is as sure as death and taxes.

I think we need a Brexit effect. In my neighborhood Trump voters are afraid to say so publicly. I pray the Brexit effect is huge and emphatic and nationwide.

If not, I think we no longer have a country. I have been heavily invested in Republican Party "skin-in-the-game" efforts since 1994. I have had every BPOU job in my State Senate District, from at large official to Chairman. I'm now the Chair of my State House District.

At this month's meeting I told our group that a clinton win will tell us we are all wasting our time...that we no longer even have a country to struggle to defend. My assertion caused dead silence in the room.

I am praying we will still have a country worth the effort.

Jill Stein hates Clinton..she says that even though she disagrees with Trump on basically everything at least he won’t go to war with Russia..she said that Clinton pretty much guaranteed that she would..I could see Stein supporters voting for Trump..maybe not all of them but a good chunk

Probably not. In a head-to-head two person race IBD/TIPP has Clinton up by 3 points.

If Hillary succeeds in getting Donald to stink, that would probably push people to one of the small following candidates, on the other hand.

She probably shot her wad too early with pu$$ygate (no pun intended, please), and Donald is recovering now.

“Most of Johnson’s voters, and about 1/3rd of Stein’s will break for TRUMP at the last minute, I believe.”

In what issues do you believe that Trump voters agree with Gary Johnson and the Libertarian Party?

On what issues would a Green Party voter agree with Trump?
