ISTANBUL, Turkey (Kurdistan24) - Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan invoked on Monday an early 20th-century irredentist document that claimed the Iraqi city of Mosul as Turkish soil.
Erdogan's remarks came amid the commencement of a long-anticipated operation by the Iraqi Army, Kurdistan's Peshmerga Forces and the US-led Coalition to liberate Mosul from the Islamic State (IS).
In Mosul "a history lies for us. If the gentlemen desire so, let them read the Misak-i Milli (National Oath) and understand what the place means to us," Erdogan declared.
The Turkish president referred to an Ottoman Parliament-sealed, 1920 pact that designates Kirkuk and Mosul as parts of Turkey.

Hey Erdogan:
Go back to Turkistan.
So is Israel
However, there was a WW I that destroyed the Ottoman Empire
By the same reasoning, Istanbul is Constantinople and is actually Italian territory
I say let him have it.
Turkey is Obama’s new BFF.
Put those two cities in Kurdistan.
Not Italian. Greek or Roman. However, the Greeks are not really Greek (largely) as they are Slavic and the Italians are only slightly Roman by blood. Indeed, they are more related to a mix of various invaders of the Italian peninsula.
Exactly, Dirty.
Kirkuk already is within Kurdistan. Insofar as it is currently ruled by the Kurds. The long term status is somewhat in dispute.
Mosul is not and cannot be ruled by the Kurds - 2.5 million Arabs are way more than the Kurds can absorb without serious problems. That's why the peshmerga refused to conquer Mosul in 2015 even though they advanced to within 6 kilometers of the city center. Because after you capture it, then what?
This should end well.
Let’s just nuke it, and nobody will have it. Or nuke it and afterwards tell Erdogan it’s all his.
Can our foreign relations get any worse
