The defense case in the Oregon standoff trial continued Tuesday with testimony from a San Diego woman who was paid $3,000 by the FBI to serve as an informant.

Terri Linnell said she received a call from an FBI agent in San Diego asking if she'd be willing to go to the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge to report her observations and keep and eye out for any illegal activity occurring there.

"They asked me to just be myself," Linnell testified.

She described herself as a longtime protestor who had gotten to know an FBI agent in San Diego about six months earlier on an unrelated case.

Linnell said she was asked to report back on six people: Ammon Bundy of Emmett, Idaho, Ryan Bundy of Cedar City, Utah, Ryan Payne if Anaconda, Montana, Blaine Cooper of Dewey-Humboldt, Arizona, Jon Ritzheimer of Peoria, Arizona, and Joseph O'Shaughnessy of Cottonwood, Arizona.....

Linnell testified that she cooked and cleaned during her stay from Jan. 12 through Jan. 23 at the refuge. She said she didn't see defendants Neil Wampler, Shawna Cox or David Fry carrying guns and described Cox as serving in an "administrative assistant" role, not as a leader of the occupation. She said there were no drugs or alcohol there.....

Barrow asked if Linnell had reported back to the FBI on Jan. 21 that people at the refuge were carrying rifles while conducting regular patrols?

"Some, not all," Linnell said, adding that a few people had 'little six shooters."....

Linnell responded that the FBI asked her a lot of "irrelevant questions."

Per C. Olson, defendant David Fry's court-appointed attorney, asked Linnell if she was told to report any illegal activity to the FBI. She said she was.

"Did you see any?" Olson asked.

"No," Linnell replied......

An FBI informant was on the stand for the defense yesterday at the Oregon Standoff Trial.

Terri Linnell ended up pouring some cold water on the federal government's demonization of the protest.

Plenty of other witnesses were on the stand for the defense yesterday including Ryan Bundy's wife Angela, family members of another defendant, Shawna Cox.

Others took the stand to offer defense of the protest as well.

Regardless of her testimony, the fact remains that she accepted $3000 to spy and report back to the FBI and answer their questions.

Government paying citizens to inform on citizens. In what realm is this legal? Honorable? Ethical?

Seems to me that in each of the most famous cases of FBI/ATF(attached) rely on paid informants to concoct reasons to take action. They end in the death of people who didn’t need to be murdered.

Fear seems to be a recurring theme on the side of the FBI and federal law enforcement or federalized local law enforcement like Sheriff Dave Ward in Harney County, Oregon.

They are scared into taking rash and extreme actions against peaceful people. Their imaginations seem to run wild with scary and insane notions about people they encounter.

Fear is a lousy motivator for drunks-alcoholics.

I should know since I consider myself one who is currently sober.

I have experience with doing crazy things because I was afraid.

Maybe there’s a lot of drug and alcohol abuse in the ranks of law enforcement, too.

If Efrem Zimbalist Jr. were still alive he’d be sorely ashamed.

They don’t make em like him anymore.

A FBI agent knocked on my door when I was a kid. He looked like EZ. He wanted to meet my mom, an ex federal employee, for a background check on a friend of hers getting a job in a quite interesting place back in those days.

He wasn’t like these baseball capped militarized types we have nowadays trained to grunt and act like tough guys to bully and intimidate people.

I had a crazy encounter a couple years ago. An FBI agent came to interview me to gain info on a friend’s son applying for the FBI. We had a normal conversation and when it was over I walked with him to the car. I heard a jet overhead and looked up and he asked if I knew what that was. I said a jet, and he said, “NO, that behind it.” I said, “A vapor trail?” He said, “That is what the government is spraying on us.” I said I had never heard of that, even though I had. Just interesting I thought.

In the USA today and it isn’t going away. The guy that got Randy Weaver to saw off the shot gun barrel was a ATF informant.

Yes I know. He had to practically break Weaver’s arm to get him to do something he could have done himself with a hacksaw blade. NEVER let a friend you haven’t known all your life talk you into doing something illegal.
