William Murchison: When Things Fall Apart
Investors Business Daily ^ | October 11, 2016 | William Murchison

Posted on 10/12/2016 3:21:58 AM PDT by expat_panama

What with writers and speakers everywhere quoting William Butler Yeats' poetic appraisal of modern times, as I read recently, maybe we can better appreciate House Speaker Paul Ryan's present dilemma and resolve to leave the guy alone. He is a good man doing the best he can in bad — no, awful — times, despite the revilement falling upon him for his Monday announcement about campaigning no more with Donald Trump.

Ryan fears the Democrats could win everything worth winning in November — the White House, the Senate, the House of Representatives. He understands that the Trump candidacy opens the door to that prospect, and he hopes to forfend it.

"Things fall apart; the center cannot hold," wrote Yeats presciently in "The Second Coming" in 1919.

You can't win for losing, even when you're one of the best-grounded, most honorable men in contemporary politics — when you're Paul Ryan, I mean, and everything's out of kilter.

Nor have you or anyone else the power to make everything right. Whatever you do, critics pounce...

...Trump, as taped, spoke like a frat boy or an NFL wide receiver concerning Ladies He Hoped to Grope...

...explain how bad-mouthing the most sensible House speaker in decades would make life easier or more free or achieve any end besides a handover to House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi...

...Enough with the divisiveness and backbiting. Quit knocking people who fail to see ideas and strategy in precisely the same way you do.

The question of the Trump ascendancy isn't worth refighting. It's settled. We are where we are. Paul Ryan knows it. Let him fight his own way.

If the nation would actually choose a Hillary Clinton. ..then I’m afraid our nation would only deserve to be punished and punished severely. . .it will be our Sodom and Gomorrah moment. . .with no more do overs. . .this is it. GO TRUMP or go to hell, Paul Ryan.

A crock from Murchison.

Ryan is so definitely a tool. He has one goal- to stop Trump and resume life and business as usual with Clinton.

Trump owns the R Party— +45 over Ryan +23 favorability.

I was looking for the "/s" from Murchison, but I couldn't find it.

I have trouble imagining Republicans weren't the source of this bit of video and its timing, including Ryan. Does Murchison know something I don't--or not know something I do?

I invite these same hard-liners, Trump included, to explain how bad-mouthing the most sensible House speaker in decades ....

I stopped right there.

I don't think Ryan is a good man but I believe that Ryan himself thinks he's a good man.

That is pretty much in evidence by his smug superior attitude in all of his dealings with Trump.

As if Ryan is the Oracle and Trump the unwelcome interloper.

And if Ryan has been doing his best it is obvious that he is not up to the job because his results are more like what we would expect from an Obama appointee instead of the loyal republican opposition.

Paul Ryan, honorable? Is this article supposed to be satire?

Ryan fears the Democrats could win everything worth winning in November — the White House, the Senate, the House of Representatives.

Obama has demonstrated that with a weak, compliant, ineffective congress the only thing worth winning is the Presidency.

He has shown the way for all succeeding democrat presidents.

Thanks to our do-nothing, spineless republican senate and congress Hillary as president would be much more tyrannical then the pre-Obama days when presidents and citizens still professed belief in the balance of power between the executive, the legislature, and the judiciary.

Yep, by aiding and abetting the enemy. UniParty first, last and always.

Screw Ryan and add Murchison to the list too if you haven't already.

I’m afraid you’re right. We will cease to exist as a constitutional republic. We will exist — at least for awhile — as “the United States of America,” a badly fractured, and fatally weakened country, ripe for the pickings.

Russia can’t believe its good fortune. The Bear will be on the move within 24 months, and there is nothing that will stop it.

Oh, well. We had a good moment in the sun, until we threw it all away.

Ryan should have kept his trap shut. Rush is right. The GOPe wants to lose. They are afraid Donald Trump will win.

Ryan had the option of keeping his big yap shut about Trump.

He couldn’t do that.

Paul Ryan is just an arrogant, dirty little shirt.

The gist of the article is that the "Trump ascendancy" is something to be "fought."

Amazing how letting RINOs do it their way always involves backstabbing our side and putting their behinds in the air for the RATs. Over the years, phony SOBs like Ryan have never shied away from appearing with the likes of Bill Clinton, Ted Kennedy and Robert Byrd, and they never will because their Democrat betters and the Washington media approve. But when it comes to deplorables as designated by the same, they reach for the nearest knife to plunge it in before running away to be rewarded for their courageous stand.

He should consider spending “more time with his family.”

What difference would it make?

What part of the liberal agenda has he stopped?

Very well said, bravo!

It's amazing that the only time these RINOs grow a spine is when they're eating their own.
