BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (WISH) Viral video shows a car ramming into a group of protesters in Bloomington.
That protest happening Monday night.
The video was taken during a Black Lives Matter protest.
Its just kind of scary. You wouldnt expect, especially in Bloomington, stuff to kind of occur violently like that or get that hectic, said Sitav Elturan, after watching the video for the first time.
Irrational behavior by the driver, said Zach Warren, who also watched the video. Theres no reason to even have to try to run someone over. Like, what is the reason for that?
Its not known what happened before or after the recording. But the SUVs windshield is broken.
The Herald Times is reporting that no one was arrested or seriously injured. Theyre also reporting that police never showed up, despite that clash happening in front of the police department.
I dont know what the driver was thinking, but thats scary. He just drove into them, said Elturan.
The Black Lives Matter rally was organized by several black student groups at IU. The protest started on campus at the Sample Gates and then weaved through the streets of Bloomington. According to the Facebook invite, 250 people went.
As long as the protest was peaceful, and they werent causing any harm, then let do what they want, said Warren.
Just like watching that video, its so crazy to me that something thats such a decent cause would incite violence, or someone would drive right into that, said Elturan.
Bloomington Police couldnt be reached for comment.
24-Hour News 8 also reached out to the student groups that organized the protest. The president of the Black Student Union ultimately refused an on-camera interview, but said they dont condone violence.
No, what the video shows is a vehicle being stopped and surrounded by "peaceful" protestors and the driver inching forward a few feet, all while laying on the horn for the idiots to get out of the way.
How can a vehicle at slow speed run over individuals unless they were standing in front of that vehicle???
Kudos to that driver !
People are getting tired of this shit. Look for more of this sort of thing in the future.
If that was me...one honk, one slow movement forward...
If they don’t clear a path
People are getting run over...
“officer, I feared for my life”
Interview some snowflakes about a big nothing burger.
... with the windshield mysteriously shattered.
The notion that the driver of a vehicle, surrounding by protestors beating on the vehicle and threatening people inside the vehicle, is somehow obligated to just sit there and take the abuse is being refuted.
There would either be blood and hair in my massive chromed plastic grille or there would be some 4/10 of an inch holes in some people
Why would the police show up?
‘Sitav Elturan’ (witness to events)
Now THERE is one of your CLASSIC Minnesotan names! Right up there with Agnar Svensen...who is currently pining for the fjords. ;)
They threatened the driver and passenger in vulgar (of course, they were BLM scum) terms. The driver reacted appropriately IMHO.
Blocking roads is not 'peaceful', damaging someone's vehicle is not 'peaceful'. They were causing harm imo. NO sympathy here......mow them down.
“Irrational behavior by the driver, said Zach Warren, who also watched the video. Theres no reason to even have to try to run someone over. Like, what is the reason for that?
Maybe he saw the Reginald Denny video a while back.
Agree, plus someone broke the windshield. Looks like the assault started from the demonstrators and they are lucky several of them didn't end up under the vehicle.
Was the car OK?
We need to design market and sell BLM dodgers for cars and light trucks
Gotta ban assault vehicles. /s
I think its called the floor it doctrine
Poor, innocent BLM protestors....
NOT!!!!!!!!
