Syrian MP Fares Shehabi: The Golan Heights Must Be Part of Any Solution to the War in Syria
MEMRI TV ^ | 10/2/16 | Mayadeen TV (Lebanon)

In a recent TV interview, Syrian MP Fares Shehabi said: "Allah willing, all the areas occupied from Syria, including the Golan Heights, will be part of the settlement." Speaking on the Lebanese Mayadeen TV channel on October 2, Shehabi said: You want Syria to become secure, stable, and democratic once again, with elections and all that? By all means, give us back our occupied area, which is the cause of all these problems."

Whether or not Allah is willing is one thing. Whether or not Israel is willing is quite another.

Give the Golan Heights to the Arabs and you guarantee war and probably seal the fate of Israel.

The Arabs started the war that resulted in Israel seizing these lands. The Golan Heights are legitimate spoils of war and strategically critical to the survival of Israel in fighting the promised aggression of these same Arabs.

Land for peace is Jewish suicide.

Seem to remember Syria kinda sorta attacking Israel in the Yom Kippur war. They lost. Next stop for Israel the river of Egypt and the west bank of the Euphrates.

What areas has Israel occupied?

The GH was won after defending themselves from the Arab hordes...

So Israel having the GH is the reason for Syria being in the middle of brutal civil war...?

Obama probably agrees...

The arabs will always want more until there is no more to give.

You know that one passage from Proverbs 30? I think we can add a new section...

“There are three things that are never satisfied, four five that never say, ‘Enough!’:

the grave, the barren womb, land, which is never satisfied with water, and fire, and Muslims greedy for land which never says, ‘Enough!’

I doubt very much that was ever run by Assad......many political people speaking out of turn in Syria these days......if Syria falls they're all going to rally for a seat at the table.

Fares Shehabi is one of them....

Shehabi, like others , is just looking to get a seat at the table if Syria falls......meanwhile Russia’s vital interests are at stake in Syria as they do not want a terrorist government to take over in Damascus, nor a US Appointed/Controlled Interim Government on Russia’s border... As has been since the Syria war began...the US pulled yet another plug on the negotiations while all other parties were in agreement....round and round it goes.....but I have true concerns the US could push Putin too hard...he has shown in the past he will not tolerate what he perceives form the US indefinitely.

The Golan was part of the British mandate; England traded the Golan in the 1920s to France (French Syria) in exchange for France letting England claim the Mosul area of Iraq.

The Golan has been part of Israel (50 years) longer than it was part of French-Syria or independent Syria.

Think of Diamond Heights in San Francisco(my favorite city) overlooking downtown. No way Israel gives it up.
