Unfortunately crap like this doesn’t help differentiate alternative media from mainstream media.

Your take on it is the only thing that makes the comments reasoned. It seems conflicted until your take is calculated in.

IMO, you are correct.

It is worded poorly. He should have used quotation marks to make it clear what he was trying to say, but I believe the person he was writing to knew exactly what he meant, probably because of a previous communication referencing using/not using the term we haven’t seen.

Nobody dislikes Hillary and the MSM more than me (Okay, Paula, Kathleen, Juanita, et al), but let’s maintain a perspective, pls.

Yes, it is the phrase she hates— “everyday Americans”, which we all hate. NO “BOMBSHELL”, here.

It is barely a step up from “typical” Americans, which is worse, or “average” Americans!

What is wrong with “Americans”, or American citzens, or American voters???

Tough luck for them, we have the quote, it is damning, we run with it. Kick their lying vicious asses. If they want to spend their time explaining that Shrillary does not really hate “everyday Americans” that is their privilege. Podesta wrote it, hang it around his neck and let him deal with it.

This is WAR against the scumbags trying to destroy our country.

Let them spend the next 28 days trying to explain what the phrase “really meant.”

Perhaps, but the word ‘phrase’ is not used as an indication of your theory.

I wouldn’t be too quick to give our Left-wing foes a pass on this one.

Even if this e-mail really is about the Hildebeast hating the phrase “everyday Americans,” it’s just inexcusably bad writing. I had to read this sentence carefully a few times to get the meaning.

As an old newspaperman, I have zero patience for people who can’t express themselves clearly. Especially Masters of the Universe who want government to control every aspect of people’s lives — just as long as they’re in charge.

Agreed.

I hate the way the media are lying on every side. You really cannot believe anything you read or hear; you have to go to the original source every time to avoid being spun.

The email is about hating the phrase “everyday Americans”.

I think that we should give John Podesta the benefit of the doubt, and consider him to be literate enough to include the quotes necessary to set off the phrase in the sentence.

He didn't do that, so we'll have to go with the original meaning of the sentence.

Who are we to second-guess a guy who makes a hundred bucks an hour in salary alone? :)

ADDENDUM: Any Defense Of The Wording Of The Email By The Democrats Is An Admission That The Leaked Emails Are Authentic.

We saw this when Hillary accepted the public/private dichotomy at the debate - she accepted that the email was authentic.

So, we are free, without instruction, to interpret this email in the manner of proper English. :)

@Romulus and other doubters:

freeper Paul R. wrote: Well... To someone who was at the top of his class in reading comprehension throughout high school and college:

It reads to me as if she hates everyday Americans AND so does not want to use the phrase. This also taken in context of the overall information we have, and lacking preceding messages to the contrary.

This sort of thing (run together meanings) happens often in hasty compositions.

Thanks for your analysis, Paul R.!
