Any mail to Congress is scanned for biological agents and x-rayed as well.
Mailing letters of protest to congress critters is an excercise in futility, especially those reacting to current issues. The time lag in the security process all too often means that the issue at hand has already been acted upon by congress before those mails reach them.
Phone calls and emails are the most expeditous ways to reach out. Even if the email gets saturated or voice mail box overflows, they get a sense from the volume.
Don’t know if this applies to their local offices as well, but if the reason is for security, it probably does.
Ask the SOBs staff.

The attitude needs to NEVER FORGET /NEVER FORGIVE/AVENGE WITH COMPOUND INTEREST the evil done to the nation & the people by both the Democrats & the Republicans whether done out of malignant malice by Democrats or cowardice & intellectual laziness & fecklessness by Republicans.
Only when this is the attitude of the Republican voter will the GOPe & Congressional Republicans start to pay serious attention.
