Redskins star corner Josh Norman fined for interception celebration

A 15-yard penalty apparently wasn't enough punishment for Josh Norman's bow-and-arrow celebration, so the NFL decided to fine the Washington Redskins star cornerback $10,000 on Wednesday.

Norman, who was fined last week for his hit on Giants wideout Sterling Shepard, said he will appeal his latest punishment, which was doled out after he celebrated his fourth-quarter interception in Sunday's win over the Browns.

Roger Goodell supports Kaepernick and penalizes and fines Josh Norman for an innocent celebrabratory gesture on the sidelines after a key interception.

Roger Goodell is ruining the NFL.

NFL TV ratings are down.

Goodell and the NFL deserve it.

NFL isn’t consistent! It’s hard to figure out what is determined as excessive celebration or not! They fine or discipline all kinds of actions but on other issues they go silent

No kidding.

Kind of on the same subject: My wife and I were discussing that there aren't many players that look like they are actually having fun out there. The last player who looked like he was having fun was Bret Favre.

The way I look at it, if your team ain't in first place you got nuthin to celebrate........

As an exception to the above, the only team I don't have a problem with their touchdown celebrations is the Detroit Lions. Their touchdowns happen so infrequently that it just might be their last so let them enjoy it while they can........

And THIS is another reason that the NFL is going down the tubes. When my son was playing football in high school, they were penalized for a game winning touchdown/PAT, with only a few seconds to go in the game and the score being determined on the PAT. They did win the game but they were penalized 15 yards at the PAT, which seemed ridiculous. Why squelch enthusiasm?? For too many years, the powers that be have been working soooo hard to make underachievers ‘feel good’ about themselves. STOP IT! That has taken away from our greatness as a country. Wanting to actually win has become a bad character trait. That is a big part of the decline in American world influence.

I was taught - “When you go in the End Zone and score, act like you have been there before”

These guys should know by now that fun is not allowed. But they can take advantage of the new protest policy. Pull a US flag out of their pants and they can stomp/dance on it as long as they want. Or even shot a pretend arrow into it.

Or a group of players who want to celebrate together (a no-no) could surround an “oppressor” and spit as they do their dance. It would be nice if Goodell or an owner was near the endzone but they’d probably pick a policeman.

They won’t lose me as a viewer since I’ve already left.

As a side note, the Lions had one of the best running backs ever in Barry Sanders and to his credit, he NEVER celebrated a touchdown. He’d simply drop the ball in the end zone or hand it to one of the officials and jog back to the bench........

More and more people will be missing these, and other excessive displays.

How big a drop in viewership, will it take?

I believe league officials are planning on it simply blowing over.

Georgia lost to Tennessee, because when they scored what appeared to be the winning TD, they got assessed a 15-yard penalty on the kickoff, because one of their players took off their helmet.

That was enough to give Tennessee good enough field position to throw a Hail Mary Pass which was caught, and gave Tennessee the win.

It’s a sport where any hypothetical cool players can’t or won’t self police the jerks. Thus dorky rules and penalties against swishy celebration dancing and chest slapping displays suitable for slow toddlers. Now they supposedly need a rule against fruity anthem protesting because the players themselves aren’t cool enough to put an end to it? I guess each game means so much that they just can’t risk penalties to teach the jerks that doing dumb things comes with a price.

The last player I can think of as having fun was Terrell Owens. He had so much fun, he got kicked off half a dozen teams. LOL
