I hadn’t actually applied ANY perspective to the actual dollar amount. You’re right. It is a lot, unless they made a LOT of fake films, and included the price of what they blew up in the calculation. ;-)
We are in agreement, but as someone pointed out, that is the price of a couple of very expensive Hollywood blockbusters. Again, it DOES depend on the impact relative to the cost. And I don’t know how many of these they made and under what conditions.
Well, maybe I should reserve judgment. They spent 500 million and the box office was weak. But they might do really well on DVD internationally.
And if it’s deliberately misleading Americans into supporting policies that harm national security, it’s called treason.

What I read in the article was that it put worms in laptops so they could track the bad guys among other things that didn’t meet your definition of “treason”.
What these professional deceivers are telling you is the reason for the program is not the reason for the program.
Wrap your mind around the size and scope of this.
Half a billion dollars is more than enough to produce every “terrorist” video ever made.
It is not out of the question that that’s exactly what this half-billion dollars has been spent on.

With the number of “conspiracy theories” which have been recently revealed to be 100% true, the onus is on “coincidence theorists” (that’s you) to show convincing evidence.
When all you have to rely on is the word of people who literally deceive people for a living, you’ve got a tough row to hoe. There is absolutely no reason whatsoever for any continued faith in any government actor, after what has been revealed of its true nature.
Thesis: You’re a gullible, naive, total sucker for a pack of admitted, professional liars.
I welcome whatever disproof you can provide for this thesis.
