New York Times violates law to publish partial Trump tax return from 90s and speculate

Shortened title.

Full title: New York Times violates law to publish partial Trump tax return from 90s and speculate about his taxes

Trump Derangement Syndrome has led the New York Times to willfully violate federal law in order to speculate about what taxes Donald Trump may or may not have been paying. In a front-page article, built on crime and conjecture, the Times ends up with very weak beer on Trump, but a convincing case for its own irresponsibility and criminality.

The lede paragraph reveals the astonishing lack of factual reporting and descent into mere speculation, speculation that supports the latest Hillary Clinton attack line on Trump, that he pays “no taxes” (a recapitulation of the Harry Reid lies on the Senate floor about Mitt Romney’s taxes. When confronted with his lies, Reid said, “It worked, didn’t it?”). Presumably, in the eyes of NYT executive editor Dean Baquet, if this speculation succeeds in defeating Trump, his own criminality and descent into speculation is also justified by the results.

"The New York Times executive editor said during a visit to Harvard in September that he would risk jail to publish Donald Trump's tax returns. He made good on his word Saturday night when the Times published Trump tax documents from 1995, which show the Republican presidential nominee claimed losses of $916 million that year — enough to avoid paying federal income taxes for as many as 18 years afterward.

Federal law makes it illegal to publish an unauthorized tax return"

It is clear that the New York times intentionally and deliberately, with malice of forethought, violated the law when they published Trumps 1995 tax returns.

Hopefully, Trump will sue them and they will pay him millions.

Then they will go to jail.

“Then they will go to jail.”

Yeah, right after Lois Lerner goes to jail for losing all those harddrives...

Carry forward loss available to businesses and individuals who have long-term capital losses.

Nothing to see here.

That will never happen. Just like Hillary will never face any legal consequences. Ever. Our so-called “laws” do not apply to the elites and their friends.

Lady Justice has had the blindfold ripped from her eyes. We are no longer a country of laws.

Everyone gets angry at the tax laws, but nobody points the finger at Congress. They’re the ones who write them.

Anyone with a business loss is allowed to apply it against future income, that’s the way the tax system is set up in most Western countries. Anyone, rich or poor - whatever you lose, you can claim.

So if Trump is allowed to claim a billion-dollars in tax credits, it’s ONLY because he lost a billion dollars of HIS OWN money.

What’s the controversy here? Is the Slimes just jealous that Trump HAD a billion to lose??

“Federal law makes it illegal to publish an unauthorized tax return”

Federal law has become nothing more than a weapon to use against political enemies and ignore when it comes to corrupt insiders like the Clintons. The Federal government no longer protects the people but it now protects those in power... at all cost.

But totally inexplicable to the average W-2 employee, who has never taken such a loss nor even paid quarterly estimated tax. Typical cheap Clinton trick to gin up faux outrage.

“Carry-forward” allows a business to spend money in the hopes of future gain. It allows for long-term investment. It creates jobs.

Hilliary; “You see Donald Trump isnt as he says he is. He wont release his tax returns and after they were found he isnt as rich as he claims!”

Trump: “I followed the law and noted the losses on those returns as the law requires. Unlike Hilliary Clinton, who violated the law and then lied under oath after violating that law. Her violation of that law equals committing TREASON against the people of the United States of America.”

Distraction for the week of OCT 2.

By all accounts, Trump did nothing illegal—Unlike Hillary!.

Stay focused on the larger objective.

A criminal complaint against the NYT filed in Manhatten federal court first thing tomorrow morning would be nice, though.

Trump campaign statement:

"The only news here is that the more than 20-year-old alleged tax document was illegally obtained, a further demonstration that the New York Times, like establishment media in general, is an extension of the Clinton Campaign, the Democratic Party and their global special interests. What is happening now with the FBI and DOJ on Hillary Clinton's emails and illegal server, including her many lies and her lies to Congress are worse than what took place in the administration of Richard Nixon - and far more illegal.

"Mr. Trump is a highly-skilled businessman who has a fiduciary responsibility to his business, his family and his employees to pay no more tax than legally required. That being said, Mr. Trump has paid hundreds of millions of dollars in property taxes, sales and excise taxes, real estate taxes, city taxes, state taxes, employee taxes and federal taxes, along with very substantial charitable contributions. Mr. Trump knows the tax code far better than anyone who has ever run for President and he is the only one that knows how to fix it.

"The incredible skills Mr. Trump has shown in building his business are the skills we need to rebuild this country. Hillary Clinton is a corrupt public official who violated federal law, Donald Trump is an extraordinarily successful private businessman who followed the law and created tens of thousands of jobs for Americans."

*************

For many individuals its important to remember that this applies to realized stock losses, both long and short term. Here’s a pretty clear description of the tax treatment of such looses and how the carry forward provision works:

They’re the ones who sign them, lobbyists write them.

This is only about the 5 millionth time I've seen an article describing some kind of criminal activity by the New York Times.

They never end up getting prosecuted for any of it, and for good reason: None of these involve specific instances of violations of the law.

In this case, there's a growing pile of evidence suggesting someone inside the Trump campaign (maybe even Trump himself) sent the tax returns to the New York Times. LOL.

Well, actually the tax laws are mostly written on K Street. Congress only codifies what its been paid to “write”.
