No possibilty of being anything else. Solely an American.
Children of foreign nationals are not natural born citizens.
They acquire the nationality of their parents even if they are afforded (incorrectly) US citizenship.

No foreign citizenship(s)

Then he was a natural born citizen - a citizen based upon the nature of his birth.
The “Vattel” definition has never been upheld in the US, and there are only two ways to be a citizen in the US:
1. Born that way (get a passport via birth status)
2. Naturalized (sworn in/apply for citizenship and accepted)
Trying to create a 3rd category isn’t supported Constitutionally or legally. The Constitution only classifies two types: citizen and natural born citizen. Citizen means that your Representative, Senator, or Governor can be a naturalized OR natural born citizen. Natural born means just one way - a citizen by virtue of your birth, not a legal action.
