Maryland Police Impersonator Pulls Over Real Officer, Police Say
NBC 4 (Washington DC) ^ | 1 October 2016 | Mark Segraves

A Maryland man posing as a police officer turned his lights and sirens on behind a real police officer, officials said.

John Vincent Angelini, 51, of Baltimore, was arrested Wednesday after Montgomery County police said he trailed an off-duty detective driving on the Intercounty Connector in an unmarked car.

The detective was headed eastbound on the ICC near Georgia Avenue about 8:15 p.m. Wednesday when he saw a car alongside him. It was a Ford Crown Victoria that looked like an unmarked police car, police said.

The driver of the Crown Victoria then slowed down so that he was behind the detective's car and turned on his siren, police said.

"The detective felt like he was being pulled over, began to reduce his speed and pulled over to the side of the road, at which point the Crown Victoria abruptly changed lanes again and continued past him," police spokesman Officer Rick Goodale said.

Did they arrest him?

I thought it is illegal to impersonate a police officer.

This must be far more common than I had ever thought. It seems that there’s one of these cases of Fake Cop pulling over Real Cop every couple of months.

From the story: "He was charged with impersonating a police officer and released after posting $2,500 bond."

2,500.00 bond and released, ridiculous. I hope they at least took his DNA and put it into the database to see if he has committed sexual crimes with his police impersonation.

He was charged. Funny thing, here in CA I see more of these Crown Victorias, tinted dark complete with search lights on the side mirrors for these cop wanna be drivers, but it’s legal. The only give away is that cop cars have ‘CA EXEMPT’ while theirs have the “california” plate decals which goes for everyone.

Here in PA, the Crown Vic's have mostly been replaced by that new police car, the Interceptor (I think), and the Crown Vic's end up at auction. So, here too there are more and more private vehicles on the road that look like undercover cars, because they were, and no longer are.

The media knew he was a fake cop because he didn’t shoot an unarmed black thug.
