The best-ranked female chess player in the United States has said she would rather sacrifice her career than submit to demands to wear a hijab at the next world championship.
Nazi Paikidze, the reigning US Women’s Chess Champion, swore to boycott the 2017 contest, which is being held in Iran and will have an enforced Islamic dress code.

A host country has the right to set certain rules. But there must be limits to those rules. Requiring a person to wear a degrading medieval outfit, that's over the line, IMO.
I wonder when NOW will issue a statement supporting this lady. They'll probably do that the day after never. Islamism trumps feminism every time.
And in case you're curious about her, shall we say, unusual first name, from Wikipedia:
Her first name, Nazi, is a Persian name and is not uncommon there. It is pronounced, she explains, “nah-zee”. It means “delicate” or “tender”.
