Pelosi Blames GOP for Train Crash

RUSH: Just listen to this. This is... I don't need to prepare you for it. I don't need to lead into this. It's Nancy Pelosi on Capitol Hill during her weekly press briefing today. And a reporter said, "There are reports now, Congresswoman Pelosi, that the train in Hoboken did not have positive train control. And I know that Congress last year voted to extend the deadline for implementation of that technology. What do you think about that, and is that something that you believe should be revisited in any way?"

Do you have any idea what's coming here folks? Here we go, folks...

PELOSI: I don't think we should have extended the deadline, when the trains were still running. If you're gonna extend the deadline then stop the trains because the risk is there. It's about time... It's about time Congress faced its responsibility when it comes to the safety of the American people, when it comes to the security of their families in every way.

RUSH: It's the Republicans' fault. Do these people have no shame? Here we have a train wreck, a derailment in Hoboken, and the first thing she... In fact, I bet that question was planted. I refuse to believe that a reporter has that knowledge at the top of his mind. That's so esoteric and down in the weeds. You're telling me a reporter knows that Congress didn't vote to implement some self-control program? So the Pelosi camp tips the reporter, and the reporter asked the question, so that she's not accused of just originating it.

"I was just asked a question from an informed member of the press..." Right, and the answer gave her the opportunity to blame the Republicans for this. So we have at least one death, a hundred people injured, and the Democrats are already politicizing this and blaming it on the Republican Party. The party of open borders and who knows how much crime added to our streets because of illegal immigration that they sponsor. How about the crime that they sponsor with all of the politicization they've engaged in in race relations in this country?

And now Miss Pelosi wants to come along and claim the Republican Party has been lackadaisical in the security and safety of the American people. This is the party that just engineered the largest state sponsor of terrorism obtaining nuclear weapons. That'd be our friends, the Iranians. And, look, I could go on and on with a list of all of the things this party has done that has put at greater risk the American people.

But I point this out because we have a lot of Millennials out there -- we have a lot of people in general -- who say, "I don't like politics. I just hate it. It's always arguing and it's confrontational," and I want you to understand who politicizes everything. You know, sadly, the Republican Party ends up being blamed for all the so-called "politics," when it's used as a dirty word. Democrats are the corrupting agents. There is nothing sacred. There's nothing. There's no loss of life, there's no accident, there is no event that they will not exploit for political gain.

I haven't heard one Republican come out and try to blame this on the Democrats or on Obama or on terrorism policy or open borders or anything, 'cause nobody knows anything yet. But, boy, whenever one of these happens, be it a shooting... You watch. If there's a single person responsible for this, the next thing they'll try to do is show that this guy or girl, whoever did it, is a Tea Party member -- or worse, a Trump supporter, or somebody who was rejected for membership at one of Trump's clubs.

(interruption)

Well, I don't think... If they can tag it as somebody that listens to me, sure, they would do that, but there are bigger fish right now in the presidential campaign. If they could tie something to Trump, if they could relate this to Trump... They're already relating it; they're blaming the Republicans for it. Now, you people that claim to hate politics, you Millennials and those of you who think you're apolitical -- you're just going through life and you don't like all this -- I want you to know who's responsible for this. You bought a whole bill of goods thinking the Republicans are the bad agents and the bad actors here.

(chuckles) We wish that some of what your allegations are were true! (chuckling) But they're not. I mean, the Republicans aren't even... You know, there's a movement in Congress. After the override of the presidential veto on families being able to sue the Saudis, there's a group of Republicans that's already making a move to soften it, led by Lindsey Graham. There's twenty Republicans who just cannot... When they win, it's like, "Oh, my God, trouble! Now we... Oh, my God, they're gonna hate us!" It's like they think any time they win politically, that the American people are gonna hate 'em.

Sounds like Pelosi handed the reporter a little card with the question already written on it. Just tee it up for me, boy. This is the question. I have my answer ready to go. Ask away and I'll put a little something in your pocket.

They (the DEMs and the media) have determined they can get away with it because no one in the mainstream will report it, and no one in either political party will say a damn thing. The public, for the most part, also doesn’t give a damn. So many here get worked up about things that very little is done about it. Preaching to the choir doesn’t give me a warm fuzzy.

“Pelosi is a Marxist.”

Hardly. She's very wealthy, and lives a life of one above the bourgeoisie, let alone the proletariat. She's a phony, is self admiring, and both a cheerleader and a pit bull for the democrats.

A champion of the poor, she lives on a $22 million Napa vineyard estate with Tennis and Bocci ball courts and helipad:

A political creation of unions, Pelosi employs ZERO union people on her vineyard and at Auberge de Soleil, her luxury Napa resort, where a burger and fries costs $21.

If anyone knows Rush Limbaugh, I can speak with him or someone on his staff at length about this and provide some solid facts to refute everything this waste of skin from California has said.

I am a licensed professional engineer in New Jersey (where the train crash occurred) and I know a lot about the technical, political and financial aspects of the positive train control (PTC) technology that is the subject of the Federal train safety regulations.

Congress extended the deadline for installing PTC technology for three basic reasons:

1. The freight railroad industry has done OK in implementing these systems, but many public transit agencies don't have the money to install such expensive new technology. New Jersey Transit, the agency operating the train that crashed today, is basically broke and can't even run its existing rail system effectively.

2. When Congress passed the PTC mandate the technology behind it didn't even exist. The implementation is fraught with complications, and there is no objective analysis that would ever justify the expenditure of more than $10 billion. If the railroad industry had $10 billion to spend on safety measures, this idiocy wouldn't even make the list of 10-15 most cost-effective ways to save lives and improve railroad safety.

3. When Congress passed the PTC mandate the railroad locomotive industry didn't even have the capacity to retrofit locomotives with this technology (or build new ones) fast enough to meet the mandate by the original deadline. The Union Pacific Railroad alone, for example, has about 8,500 locomotives. A Federal mandate to implement this technology within seven years is the equivalent of a Federal mandating requiring NASA to launch a manned space mission to Jupiter by next Tuesday.

The only explanation I can come up with as to why someone would invite their own murderers into their country is big payoffs and someone thats is going to jump ship and move outside the U.S. as soon as the SHTF.

These trains are run by the state govts, not the private sector.
