An employee at a Florida Walmart store defended himself by shooting an armed robber on Wednesday.
Ervin Jones was sitting in his car waiting for his shift to begin at the Sunrise, Florida store around 3:30 a.m. when a man approached him. The man, identified by police as 28-year-old Terrence G. Pearson, then showed Jones a gun and demanded money. Jones responded by opening fire on the armed robber, killing him.
The boy came up to him, an anonymous co-worker told WSVN. He showed him, he said, You know what this is, right? Give me everything, so he just opened fire on him right then and there. He was shocked. I think he was just shocked that he just killed.
One of my co-workers was waiting in his car, to clock in, and somebody tried to rob him, another employee told the station. I guess hes just pretty much defending himself. Hes a pretty mellow guy. If you ever get to meet him and talk to him, you wouldnt even expect him to be able to defend himself like that because hes very quiet, friendly.
Jones reportedly has a concealed carry license. Police said they are still investigating the incident but believe that Jones acted in self-defense.
Investigators believe this was an attempted robbery and the employee fired in self-defense, Sunrise Police Officer Chris Piper told the Sun Sentinel.
Jones sister said his main concern was taking care of himself and his child.
They said it was the other person, but when I woke up and heard about it, I was crying because, I mean, my brother is all I got and my kids, Natshia Jones told WSVN. But Im sorry to hear what happened to the victim, but my brother work hard, he work hard to take care of him and his child.
The deceased was NOT the “victim.”
By now Wal-Mart has probably fired him.
He won’t need money where he’s going.
Probably, but he is still alive. The perp, however, died with that shocked look on his face.
I would rather be alive and fired from that job
Then dead and be named “employee of the month”
By now Wal-Mart has probably fired him.
Hopefully, not, since the incident occurred in the parking lot, not inside their store.
Paging Mr. Trump.
Crime Prevention 101: Get criminals off the streets.
I had a CCW in FL, and lived in the area for 17 years.
That could have been me.
And the results would have been the same.
Better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6.
So what?
Since he wasn't clocked in and was in the parking lot, they might not. Had he done that while clocked in, almost certainly.
Even so, the perps family will probably file a wrongful death suit against Walmart, because that's where the deep pockets are.
That’s typical Slanglish...............
“Jones responded by opening fire on the armed robber, killing him.”
I love these feel good stories. (sniff)
I doubt it. Wal-Mart is an anti-union company, sells ammo, and was the first large company to start buying duck calls from Phil Robertson, who is still held in high esteem there.

Why, in the “Land Of The Free - Home Of The Brave,” do you need a ********* permit to defend yourself?
I betcha Walmart cites some boilerplate “policy violation” and fires the guy.
Perp's family to mortician: "Can't y'all get that look off'n his face?"
Mortician [stifling a laugh]: "Ma'am, I recommend a closed casket"
