I wish I could believe what Gingrich is saying, but it seems to me like spin. Clinton looked healthy and in control, though smug. Trump looked out of control and failed to take advantage of too may opportunities to exploit her weaknesses. He needs to do much better in the next two debates.

What debate were you watching? Trump was not out of control. In fact, he was somewhat reserved and he also left plenty of ammo in the bag for the next debates.
If he had then you'd be saying he didn't act presidential and you'd say he can't control himself and be wringing your hands over that.

TRUMP fended off two flaming liberals and came out on top. TRUMP was in NEW YORK JUNK DOG mode. He’s a real fighter and got the facts out while doing it.
I agree. A lot of people here don't want to hear that, but it is what it is. Trump needs to do some serious prep work for the remaining debates, including mock debates with someone who won't pull any punches. There's too much at stake in this election to just go in there and wing it.

Tend to agree. If he pounds her on corruption, it will be a knockout punch. “Hillary you seem so concerned about my finances. How about yours? In 2001 you said you were dead broke. After ten years of “public service” your net worth is now $31 million. Not counting Bill’s money. What did you make or produce to earn that wealth? More to the point what did you sell?”
I agree with much of that. The first 20 minutes or so was stunning and Trump was pummeling Hillary. If Trump could only have maintained that throughout the debate. Trump got in some good lines but I am not sure they got noticed as they were crowded out by his rambling defensive posture.
I also noticed this moderator let them go at it. In those situations Trump wasted Hillary and she was unable to deal with it well. Her general strategy seemed to be to let Trump ramble and hope he digs himself into a hole. Trump looked more macho and aggressive but Hillary seemed more in control.
