CBS News contributor Bob Schieffer doesn't believe Monday night's presidential debate swayed many voters across the nation.
"I've never seen one where the decorum broke down the way that it did tonight. You almost never see audience responses like we saw tonight. We were expecting a different kind of debate and I think in that way that we saw one. I don't think Donald Trump lost any votes tonight, Im not sure Hillary Clinton gained any votes tonight," the former "Face the Nation" moderator said on CBS News after the debate.
He continued, "What we saw was an example of how deep a divide is now between Democrats and Republicans."

Schieffer added that each nominee only talked to their supporters during the debate and didn't try to reach across the aisle.

Trump didn't try to reach across the aisle ... to idiots like these
Captain Obvious from the MSM says debate changed no votes.
Translation: Hildabeast is still goin’ down.
What Bobby is saying is that Clintoon didn’t do well tonight. However, I believe he’s right. Many have already made up their minds and they’re sticking to it. The polls in November will tell the story.
TRUMP reached the folk in the inner cities who are tired of ‘living in hell’ with all the violence, poverty, drugs, and crime.
Then Hillary failed because she needed to gain momentum. Her likeability took a hit.
Many here were hoping Trump would step on her throat and not let up. Explains the disappointment in many of the posts here tonight as he didn't come close to doing that.
ah, he’s probably right though.
the polls before and after the three debates with romney and obama were pretty much the same
a few percent might change based on a poll.
i already forget the questions and answers lol.
For once I actually agree with Schieffer. It was on points a victory for Hillary, but certainly not enough to sway a whole bunch of voters to leave Trump for her nor will it get more independents to move to her column. If anything, I think Holt’s interference all night long hurt Hillary because it just reinforced the notion that the media is biased for the Democratic Party. To be honest I thought this was more Trump facing Lester Holt than Hillary.
I don’t want idiots following me either.
its like this, the people who are voting for Trump will vote for Trump, the ones who will vote for Clinton will continue to vote for Clinton..pretty much everyone has made up their mind, the only votes now that maybe make a difference are Independent voters
I disagree. Trump showed he is dead serious and will show some fangs in the next debate.
Our country’s survival depends on it.
Honestly, I thought Holt was running for President.
Hillary seemed a sideshow in that three-ringed circus.
Good to hear, coming from Schieffer.
Ted Cruz said it was Trump’s best debate on FB.
Trump needed to tie tax cuts to increased employment for the half of young blacks who are unemployed. She practically begged him to do it. Why he didn’t is beyond me. Her proposal to “spend more money” and training police should have been pointed out to be the fiction it is.
I can understand Trump wanting to be restrained but missing one golden opportunity after another is just disappointing. Sure Holt was biased, sure Hillary gave Holt the questions. These are GIVENS. I just don’t get it. If he was going to be verbally restrained he defeated his purpose with all the negative facial expressions.
I am not saying I could stand in front of 100 million people and do better but I AM wondering if I could. Not good. Pray God the media guy is right and tonight won’t change things.
LOL Exactly
Holt won the debate.
If Schiefer is saying this, that means it went better for Trump than many here think.
Trump didn’t need to reach across the aisle - he needed to reach those on the fence who needed to determine that this businessman an reality TV star who they barely knew really did share some of their strongly held beliefs and their anger and worries.
That’s why this was a major win for Trump - because he definitely reached those folks tonight. Nothing that either one said was going to change the minds of anyone on either side of that fence.
A big post-debate poll bump is coming. RCP Avg Trump +3 or more within two weeks.
the core question : did the sheeple believe Hillary was a robot merely parroting memorized Bon mots ?
