According to an article in this weeks Las Vegas Review Journal, the Guinn Center, an independent think tank, took a close look at the Question 1 gun control ballot initiative. The study had this to say about Question 1:
[it could] be a challenge to enforce, if not altogether unenforceable, without a firearm registration scheme especially in rural counties with limited resources; [a] claim made by the measures opponents seems to be supported by a 2001 Department of Justice survey of inmates, which found that less than 1 percent of the criminals obtained a gun through an unlicensed sale at a gun show; [it could] be a financial impact if the state and the FBI decide to jettison Nevadas current in-state background check system. If the FBI takes over the whole operation, Nevada will lose $2.7 million in revenue per year. the reasonable fee the measure proposes to charge for background checks on private-party sales and transfers of firearms is not defined. [This leaves open the possibility for firearms dealers to charge unreasonably high fees.]

The ‘Rats need to close the GUN Burglary Loophole...
I predict massive disobedience.
I live in Maine and we have the same damned thing on the ballot, in one of the most pro-Second Amendment states in the country.
Some broad on TV in a commercial last night said we need this so criminals don’t buy firearms without a background check and kill police officers, blah blah blah.
I’ve lived in Maine for about 25 years and I can’t recall a police officer being killed in the line of duty, and certainly not from a gun purchase in a private sale. Plus, Maine has one of the lowest crime rates in the country.
Bloomturd hired a Washington D.C. political firm to gather signatures from (mostly) women to get this turkey on the ballot.
Mean while, I’m seeing NO on 3 (the ballot number) signs popping up all over the place.
The Sportsman Alliance of Maine has vowed to fight this in the legislature if it passes, and Gov. LePage has said this ballot measure would violate Maine’s Constitution.
I’m not sure people are focused on this yet. While I have No on 1 signs, I don’t see much around either way. Then again, I do not watch any local TV whatsoever so who knows what’s gong on there.
Not much in the way of counter arguments. Plenty of vote yes on Question 1 ads touting the reduction in LEO deaths in states that have intergalactic background checks. I’m sporting a VOTE NO ON QUESTION 1 sticker in the back window of the truck.
Target those GIVING THE ORDERS for removal- at the ballot box if possible, with extreme prejudice if not.
Oregon passed that cr@p a couple years back. Open Carry and must issue except in some of the commie cities.
