The streets are gone, Dean Angelo, president of the Chicago police union, told me last month. The night before, Aug. 14, a Chicago police officers son had been killed in a shooting while sitting on his familys porch, one of 92 people killed in Chicago during the worst month for homicides in the Windy City since July 1993. The August victims who survived included 10-year-old Tavon Tanner, shot while playing in front of his house (the bullet ripped through Tavons pancreas, intestines, kidney and spleen); an 8-year-old girl shot in the arm while crossing the street; and two 6-year-old girls.
On Sept. 6, a 71-year-old man was accosted by a teen on a bike while watering his lawn. The robber demanded the mans wallet and when he refused shot him in the abdomen, then grabbed his wallet before pedaling away.
By Sept. 8, nearly 3,000 people had been shot in Chicago in 2016, an average of one shooting victim every two hours. Five hundred and sixteen people had been murdered. Gun homicides and non-fatal shootings were up 47% over the same period of 2015, which had seen a significant rise in crime over 2014.

Multiple outlets have reported that corrupt Aldermen (possibly redundant) regularly tip criminals/gangs off to police activity especially planned raids which, of course, obviates those actions.
Perhaps the police are tired of wasting their time.
How is that BLM racist narrative working out o most reliable of democrat voters?
Police have no choice - stay out of the hood if you don’t want to have to defend yourself against being charged for shooting some thug. What’s the point anyway: some people just love to kill.
Is amazing to me that Chicago didn’t make the top ten of the nation’s most dangerous cities.
I would assume its true in some of the wards the gangs are the political street muscle.
What Chicago needs is a full company of National Guard troops on its streets 24/7. The predators who don’t stay off the streets should be shot and killed, just as one would do to rabid dogs. No one has the right to continue this urban terrorism.
Or just stay away and let the problem fix itself.
Good ! step back ,,, let them kill each other off .
Like the Muz in Syria
In the end there will be far far fewer
Duterte for Mayor!
“Good ! step back ,,, let them kill each other off .”

I agree, and I would NEVER have felt that way a few years ago.
What a mess.
.
Sorry. That’s how things work. Things are connected. Throw out law enforcement and enjoy the results.
Anywhere else except in the Emanuel/Obama Ghetto the National Guard would have been demanded ... but they’re not on the mob/city payroll so no deal!
It is silly to try to help people who shoot at you (or sue you).
They had this exact scenario in the past season of television show, “Chicago Fire”.
Letting the animals kill each other is the wrong answer. Even if that’s what they’ll likely do in any case.
We wonder as to why these democrat s%%%holes continue to exist. Letting the animals run rampant is part of the reason why. The animals kill each other, that’s true. But they’re not greatly relevant. It’s the decent folks who happen to be poor who are relevant. Decent folks who have the economic wherewithal leave. That leaves the animals and those decent folks who are too poor to leave. And the only folks who court their votes are the animal enablers on the left.
We need to bring order to the ghettoes. Many of those killed are kids, the elderly, or those who just want to be left the hell alone. What about them? Are they not Americans as well? Do they not deserve the protection of the law?
What Chicago needs is a shoot to kill order.
You go, BLM!
The police should be tired. Especially since this is no longer a local law enforcement matter.
The issue here is one of domestic terrorism. And terrorism is usually a Federal issue. You can’t blame Chicago PD because the US DOJ and the local US Attorney won’t do their jobs.
