The anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks weighs heavily on the minds of Minnesota Muslims as they prepare to celebrate one of the most important holy days of the year.
For weeks they had worried that Mondays Eid al-Adha, which marks the end of the annual pilgrimage to Mecca, might fall on the 9/11 anniversary. Though the sighting of the moon placed this years Eid on Sept. 12, the proximity of a major holiday and a painful anniversary has fueled anxiety and led community leaders and local law enforcement to tighten security measures for Eid celebrations.
There has been a long internal discussion about this since last year, said Jaylani Hussein, executive director of the local chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR). The overwhelming answer has been that the community should do what they are doing, but there should be extra vigilance.
CAIR has issued safety guidelines to mosque leaders and community members.

It's always about them.
When is Jerk Johnson at DHS going to add CAIR to their terrorist watch list?
Well, if he did, then he’d be on the watch list.
OK. Make it a muzzle holiday!
Burqa synconized swimming in the pool; pubic hair beard trimming for the men; bomb belt treasure hunts for the kids. Their own day to remember!
As Mark Steyn would say, I am Islamed out.
I think they would be more comfortable in their own part of the world.
If they are worried about it, they could always be low key about it. As they are actually supposedly Americans just like everyone else.
I guess it’s too much to ask. But they were the ones worried about it.
Well guess what Mochhhhamad, Accchhhhmed, Huma, etc. I feel offended whenever your holidays fall on the same days as Yom Kippur, Rosh Hashana, Channukkah, Passover, Purim Day, etc.
Primitive Moon cult.
There is nothing “holy” about islam so they can just stuff it.
I’m a bit worried about the 15th anniversary of 9/11 falling on a Sunday.
Might have to grab a couple of extra mags for Sunday services.
Then why are they here?
Go back to satans sand box!
“Then why are they here?”
You and I and everyone here knows why they are here.
Not sure they would really want to give us that kind of validation/justification. I know they are nuts but they usually like sneakier attacks.
Who cares about the actual and potential terrorists worrying or being offended? Seriously...they apparently offended by everything. They offend civilized people by loving to murder nonmoozlums. Losers.
Hillary’s base is upset.
They must not be that poor to be able to afford a flight to Mecca and back for the family. They always seem to have mo ey. I wonder how many fake IDs each household member possesses abd how much each identity makes them.
“We are not strangers, Mohamud said. We are part of this [countrys] fabric.”
Hmmm, where did that line come from?
