Slavery is bad. We can all look back at history and find a grievance against someone. Or we can accept that slavery, indentured labor, child labor, discrimination against this group or that, abhorrent factory conditions, debtor prisons, forced relocation for dams or carpetbaggers, forced enscription of migrant males into the Civil War and train track gangs, treatment of defeated enemies that fought on the side of the British or French - or German or Japanese, were part of the learning pains of becoming an ordered society of ideals never seen on the planet before, the highest of ordered society, the United States.

It’s indisputable the protections we now live under have come at a dear cost to individual families, and we respect and honor every one upon who’s misery our nation and our freedom was built. From Medieval beginnings to the Treaty of Paris in 1783 which ended the Revolutionary War, thru the Emancipation Proclamation of 1863 sealed with the blood of a million souls, to ratifying women’s votes in 1920, to the Civil Rights protections of 1961, 1964, and 1965, to additional protections along the way, we’ve learned, we’ve adjusted, and we move forward. In the spirit of moving forward, there can be no reparations. For anyone. Because we owe everyone who helped make America what it is today - the greatest nation on earth.

“”Translaves = born free, self-identify as slaves.””

Good one. Why the heck not?

I was wondering when the “guilt extortionists” would arrive.

And Georgetown will surrender like a PC rat.

Okey dokey.
Speaking of Georgetown, a far left Jesuit Institution, I’m musing on a way to induce Pope Frankie the Bolshevik, to leave the Papacy and head up Georgetown. They deserve and need each other.

A one way ticket to Africa is just what I was thinking too but also a sincere apology.

Africa is a hellhole, they should be thanking their lucky stars that they were brought here.

” The party that filibustered against the Civil Rights Act.”

You mean the 1964 Civil Rights Act that was opposed by both Barry Goldwater and Ronald Reagan?

The bill that Lyndon Johnson and his liberal Republican enablers passed?

It never ceases to amaze me how the current crop of conservatives celebrate this powerful tool of political control and social engineering that the Left has used ever since to transform American life.

The average price GU sold the slaves for was $11,000. Few “owners” of the time were so wealthy they could afford to kill a slave out of whim or wantonness. While there were acts of cruelty and slavery itself is oppression and should not exist, most reasonable humans according to their self-interest would take reasonable take care of their property because they would have a lot invested in it.

The total number of blacks lynched in the United States during Reconstruction and Jim Crow is roughly the same as only the number of white men who died to capture the island of Iwo Jima in one week during WWII.

As Muhammad Ali said, "Thank God my granddaddy got on that boat."

RE “...well advised to read world history and the Bible ...”

Holy crap, don’t tell them to read a Bible... they’ll spontaneously combust...

Wait a minute... on second thought... that’s not a bad thing...
