My wife runs a support group for caregivers at our church in Phoenix. Anyone who is in the role of caregiver needs time to stand back and discuss the problems with others.

I have a friend who’s father was a medical doctor, then began Alz. in his 50s.

And he was violent, while still young and strong. He would get up and walk away, and they family had an awful time of it.

It's difficult because an alzheimer's patient not only isn't appreciative of the help, they are often resentful of it because they sense and fear their own loss of control. So you watch someone you love slip away and cannot even connect fully with them in the short time they have left. It's a very cruel disease.

I think this will be cured someday, though. There are promising new developments. I certainly hope so.

I have a real hard time taking anyone who was a trophy wife very seriously.

I think it is a shame that men like Glen Campbell let there lust ruin the lives of the two or three families they conceive with their former mistresses turned wives.

I have much more respect for the men married 50 years, worked at a factory, at a desk, or in some trade and keep the vows they made and then were overcome with disease.

No matter what this woman will always have the “gold digger” air about her.

Lots of stories about the other 5 children Glen had not getting to see their dad.

Very sad.

Glen is featured prominently in the flim documentary “The Wrecking Crew”- the story of the highly talented and under appreciated recording studio musicians who not only backed up major recording acts, but in many instances, developed the music and playing styles of the 60s and 70s. In some cases, they were the recording band (ie.. Monkees) and the “stars” were simply window dressing. Glen was one of those studio musicians before he broke out on his own as a recording artist. The film has been showing on Netflix- definitely worth a watch.

I saw a similar documentary on him.

Amazing talent, he even was one of the Beach Boys for awhile.

“Huma?” I thought....Then I laughed.
She’ll be driving Ms Daisy pretty soon, may as well start hiring illegal nurses now. Illegal, so you can always threaten them with being ‘sent back’ if they talk back.

My dad’s wife has this diagnosis. It’s an awful disease. And he is battling cancer while being her caregiver. Doesn’t want to place her yet. Meanwhile, my mom is healthy. But he and his wife have been married longer than he was married to my mom - going on 35 years now. I was over there the other day and he found a song he wanted to play - “Where’ve You Been”, Kathy Matea. Had me all torn up - my grandson was saying, “are you okay, Grandmother?” It would be so different if they had stayed together, but they didn’t’. So here we are.

we are not going to cure ageing...lets face that fact...

not only can them be resentful, they can be combative....

I understand.

Tough stuff to deal with.

My wife’s parents are divorced and her mother is very irrational about it. Can’t mention her fathers name nor can the grandchildren talk about seeing him.
They’ve been divorced for 41 years!!

I have a family history of Alzheimer’s. I’m 44 been married 25 years.

I hope my wife is spared the pain.

I went through this with my Dad,and now my B-I-L has early onset. I have moved to MA to live a few houses away from him and my sister so I can be there for them when it starts getting bad.

Right now, B-I-L is an awesome guitar player, so the Glen Campbell story really hits home with us.
