Fox Settles With Gretchen Carlson Over Roger Ailes Sex Harassment Claims
The New York Times ^ | September 6, 2016 | John Koblin and Michael M. Grynbaum

A 21st Century Fox Corporation news release did not specify a settlement amount, but a person briefed on the settlement said that it amounted to $20 million.

Additionally, Fox News abruptly announced — just minutes after 21st Century Fox confirmed the settlement with Ms. Carlson — the departure of Greta Van Susteren...

Brit Hume will take over her 7 p.m. time slot, beginning on Tuesday night...

In a Facebook post on Tuesday, Ms. Van Susteren wrote that she decided to leave the network late last week, saying, “Fox has not felt like home to me for a few years.” She said that she “could not wait” because of a time-limited exit clause in her contract.

Ms. Van Susteren’s husband, John P. Coale, said in a phone interview on Tuesday that his wife exercised what is known as “key man clause’’ on Friday, which allowed her to leave if Mr. Ailes was not in control...

I’d be willing to be sexually harassed for only $10m.

Greta’s departure seems to confirm that Ailes has plans for a new network and she will be one of the prime time hosts. O’Reilly and Hannity have the same clauses in their contracts and could jump as well. However, O’Reilly has a production deal with Fox that will probably keep him in place; but I can see Hannity making the move.

Greta’s move suggests Ailes new venture is a go regardless of the outcome of the presidential election. Everyone assumed Trump would be the primary backer of the new channel, but I’m guessing Ailes has other, deep pocketed investors as well.

As for her replacement, Brit Hume is a stop-gap measure. He took semi-retirement status a few years ago by choice and spends much of his time in Florida. Look for Martha McCallum to get a shot as the permanent replacement, probably after Election Day.

Fox is slowing turning into just another liberal mouth-piece... True conservative journalism is coming to an end. Sad indeed!

Sorry to disappoint you, but word on the street is that Ailes’ separation agreement with Fox has a non-compete clause.

Could only be time-limited though, if at all valid.

FoxNews is so screwed up these days.

Sure, a non-compete agreement is normally time-limited. But a period of five years would not be unusual.

Anyway, another “leaked” tidbit about Roger’s termination agreement with Fox is that he will serve as an occasional consultant to the company.

So it seems to me that Trump TV will need to proceed without formal input from Ailes.

FoxNews is so screwed up these days.

FOX has another lawsuit from Andrea Tantaros.(nonsexual)

CNN- "The lawsuit alleges that Ailes' senior lieutenants "engaged in a concerted effort to silence Tantaros by threats, humiliation, and retaliation."
The lawsuit names, along with Ailes, P.R. chief Irena Briganti; H.R. head Dianne Brandi; programming executives Bill Shine and Suzanne Scott; and the network as a whole.

Murdoch has decided to cut his losses with Ailes and pay whatever damages are necessary to put this behind him. I suspect that Ailes is a pig. No way they are forking over $20 million unless there’s fire behind the smoke.

I wouldn’t go quite as far as to say the suit is non-sexual.

These were merely accessories after the fact, and as guilty as the guy that made the sexual advances.

They were attempting to enable him to be able to do these sorts of things with impunity.

Little more to it that just the age difference...

I am sure the $20 MM is mostly to keep her trap shut about exactly what he did.

Like it or not, you are someones boss and you sexually harass a subordinate, it ain’t going to end well for you or your employer.

Don't be so sure there is any merit to charges against Ailes

These sex charges were reportedly part if a plan by Murdoch's very Progressive Left son to oust Ailes and turn Fox News in a very left wong direction

I mean really, Megan Kelly's Bringing up a single complaint from over 10 years ago that she never mentioned at the time and which the rebuff of did nothing to damage or impair her subsequent career with Fox News

I call BS on this

Lets be serious, there is a second agenda centered around ousting Ailes and changing the direction of Fox News at work here

“Don’t be so sure there is any merit to charges against Ailes”

Carlson has many tape recordings of the perv speaking to her.
