Trump changed immigration policy speech after Mexican president's tweet

As Donald Trump arrived in Phoenix late Wednesday, fresh from a visit to Mexico City’s presidential palace, he had in his hands a big immigration speech that omitted the usual line that Mexico would have to pay for his proposed wall along the U.S. southern border.

Just after landing, though, Mr. Trump discovered that Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto had tweeted that he had told the Republican presidential nominee during their private meeting earlier that day that his country would refuse to pay for the wall.

Mr. Trump was peeved that Mr. Peña Nieto had gone public with the fact that the Mexican president had broken what Mr. Trump considered a deal to keep the question of paying for the wall off the table at their initial meeting.

So Mr. Trump hurriedly inserted a new sentence in his immigration speech, and he soon boomed out from the podium his traditional declaration that the wall would be paid for by Mexico—adding, “They don’t know it yet but they’re going to pay for the wall.”

“I had no choice,” Mr. Trump said in an interview on Thursday. But he also said of the Mexican president, “I liked him very much.”

All told, Wednesday was a day of exceptional twists and turns, spanning multiple time zones and two countries, on the trade and immigration issues that have become signatures of the Trump presidential campaign.

“Trump changed immigration policy speech after Mexican president’s tweet”

GASP! Trump changed a line in a speech... to make it stronger?! Wow! Where’s the Fox News Alert?

What’s next...?

DONALD TRUMP ADMITS: “I FORGOT TO BRUSH MY TEETH LAST NIGHT.”
DONALD TRUMP’S ODD DIET ENCOURAGES PEOPLE TO EAT FAST FOOD!
DONALD TRUMP... DOES MELANIA MAKE WOMEN JEALOUS?

The vile press is utterly out of ideas, but cannot stop their anti-Trump propaganda nonetheless. Don’t they also have to live in the world they’re trying to create for us with the Bitch in charge? Or are they SO much under someone’s control that what they want simply doesn’t matter? Or is lying just such a part of life for leftists that they see nothing wrong with crowing that they’re “Fair and Balanced” year after year while spouting the most obvious propaganda imaginable?

We already know what happens to people who attack him personally - he hits back twice as hard.

Now we’re about to find out what happens to dignitaries who double-cross Mr. Trump. President Nieto may well regret his tweet by lunchtime today.

President Nieto may well regret his tweet by lunchtime today.

Not if he is still in power by then. May be a day or two before Nieto truly regrets inviting DJT and (IMO) proceeding in his speech to belittle America, essentially saying Mexico is an equal, while standing near Trump's podium in Mexico City or wherever they were.

Why do you see it as a negative that Trump inserted a line into his speech to clarify his position about paying for building the wall. I think it is very positive that he did that, and it is another indication that he won’t be pressured.

The media are tremendously biased, but in this case perhaps you are seeing slights where they don’t exist.

And it’s just one more example of why you can’t trust a Mexican. Trump thought he had a gentlemen’s agreement to let the “who pays” question ride for the time being, but Pasquale couldn’t stand it; and had to mouth off about it.

Mexico is one crappy country and it's because they've never had a leader. It wouldn't exist except for American dollars.

I visited there many years ago...one big roach nest.

As if towering over El Presidente by what looked like a foot and a half on the podium, The Donald has this little cutie pie just where he wants him to begin serious negotiations. The Mexicans are use to pushing Hillary, Kerry and Obama around. They are in for a rude awakening.

The MSM and others belittling Nieto forced him to break a man’s deal with Trump and Trump proved he’s not a patsy. Trump won 3 of a possible 2 points ....

Anyone who has watched this unfold knows that Trump p@nwed nieto. That farcical little man knew it, and like an angry little girl tweeted out his frustrations. We will see how well that works out for him, but for a jerk with a 22% approval rating in his own country, I don’t see a fairy tale ending for him no matter how much he acts like a fairy.

Trump is amazing!

Trump vs the World (and Trump is winning!)

Trump makes chumps of them all.

Of course, the world will fight dirty.

That is my one and only concern.

The little dictators,

beuracrats, fraudulent scientist and Establishment types,

want to hold on to their fake power.

Go Trump!

Can someone please explain and enlighten me as to why Peña Nieto invited Trump to Mexico? What did he have to gain? Trump became the victor. Told the pilot to take a left at Dallas and head south until he saw a big volcano and then put the wheels down. Trump seized the torch and looked and acted presidential which Peña Nieto didn't. Also Peña Nieto now knows Trump is a man of commitment, action and owns him. Wednesday was but another stake in Clinton's attempt to be president.
Then again why did Peña Nieto invite Trump to Mexico City?

Like many before him, Peña Nieto underestimated The Trump.
