It is always a pleasure to “meet” with you on FR. I hope all is well.

Same to you, m’dear.
And the short version of how I’m doing is “All is well.”
The longer version is (all together now...) “Through many dangers toils and snares I have already come...”! O:-)
You, too?

I am singing the same tune and words! And you brought a much needed smile to my face.

There are approx. 1.2 billion Hindus. Some of them are intolerant and persecute other religious believers. For instance, the Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party (BHP)is in favor of "Hindutva" ("Hindu-ness") and against non-Indian cultural influence and non-Hindu religious activity in India. Their efforts have been directed largely against Muslim and (secondarily) Christian expansion.
I do not see such persecutors as my allies; but then, neither do most Hindus see the BHP as representing their views. The most votes the BHP ever received, as I understand it, was in 2914 with 31% of the vote.
But the bulk of Hindus are tolerant and, notably, often what you might call syncretistic. Many honor Jesus, for instance, as "another god" in their vast pantheon of manifestations and reincarnations of Gods.
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to make an important distinction between the minority BHP and the majority, who could more plausibly be called our "nice, tolerant" Hindu allies.

Who, me? You’re amusing. I know one Hindu, and no pagans nor Buddhists at FR. (There are doubtless more, but I don’t know them.) It would not be much of a ping list.

“2914” = 2014. Really dumb typo!

Preferential admission for ancestors of the slaves sold 200 years ago by the university? Formal apology for participating in the purchase of Africans from Africans?
