(Maine Gov) LePage says he is considering resignation, apologizes
Portland Press Herald ^ | August 30, 2016 | Eric Russell

Gov. Paul LePage raised the possibility Tuesday that he may not finish his second term, amid mounting pressure from Democrats and members of his own party to amend for his recent actions.

“I’m looking at all options,” the Republican governor said while appearing on WVOM, a Bangor talk radio station. “I think some things I’ve been asked to do are beyond my ability. I’m not going to say that I’m not going to finish it. I’m not saying that I am going to finish it.”

He later said, “If I’ve lost my ability to help Maine people, maybe it’s time to move on.”

Rob Poindexter, spokesman for the House Republicans, said Minority Leader Ken Fredette, R-Newport, and Assistant Minority Leader Ellie Espling, R-New Gloucester, would not comment on LePage’s remarks until after their members meet this evening.

Democratic leaders said LePage’s apology did not go far enough and called on legislative leaders from both parties “to get in the same room and discuss these very serious issues.” Democrats have said they believe LePage is unfit to serve and should step down, and that a legislative censure would be insufficient punishment.

If a Democrat did the same thing, his party would close ranks to defend him.

"What did he apologize for?"

My question also. I guess I haven't been up with all the news. What did he do?

Some racist crap on the phone. But Democrats can say whatever they want and refuse to leave office and eventually it blows over.

Stupid Republicans.

He left a nasty voicemail to a Dem -

http://www.pressherald.com/2016/08/26/prove-im-a-racist-lepage-challenges-westbrook-legislator-in-obscenity-laced-voice-mail/

“Mr. Gattine, this is Gov. Paul Richard LePage,” a recording of the governor’s phone message says. “I would like to talk to you about your comments about my being a racist, you (expletive). I want to talk to you. I want you to prove that I’m a racist. I’ve spent my life helping black people and you little son-of-a-bitch, socialist (expletive). You … I need you to, just friggin. I want you to record this and make it public because I am after you. Thank you.”

“The governor left the obscenity-filled voicemail for Gattine last Thursday, after Gattine criticized the governor’s remarks at a town hall forum the night before as racially charged. Gattine has denied calling the governor a racist.

The governor said he’s been keeping a three-ring binder of arrested drug dealers in Maine, and he says 90 percent of the faces in it are black or Hispanic.

Several times since, LePage has continued to focus on the race of drug dealers, even as lawmakers have challenged his assertions.

He didn’t soften that position on Tuesday.”

For telling the truth I suppose.

He told the truth about the gangbangers and illegals invading his state with drugs and now the elites have to get rid of him.

There’s only one option, Governor - stand strong, never, NEVER apologize, and tell the pantywaists in both uniparties to go climb a tree (or something more colorful).

You do us all more harm than good by acquiescing to the left.

From the article:

LePage also apologized repeatedly to Rep. Drew Gattine and his family for leaving a threatening voicemail last week.

He said he plans to invite the Westbrook representative to a face-to-face meeting to talk further.

“When I was called a racist I just lost it, and there’s no excuse,” the governor said. “It’s unacceptable. It’s totally my fault.”

LePage said being called a racist for him was, “like calling a black man the ‘N’ word or a woman the ‘C’ word. It just absolutely knocked me off my feet.”

The governor left the obscenity-filled voicemail for Gattine last Thursday, after Gattine criticized the governor’s remarks at a town hall forum the night before as racially charged. Gattine has denied calling the governor a racist.

The governor said he’s been keeping a three-ring binder of arrested drug dealers in Maine, and he says 90 percent of the faces in it are black or Hispanic.

LePage allegedly left a profane voicemail message to a Dem state legistator, challenging him to a duel and “threatening” to put a gun to his head.

Also, in a separate incident, he stated that 90 of drug offenders are black or hispanic.

The governor said he’s been keeping a three-ring binder of arrested drug dealers in Maine, and he says 90 percent of the faces in it are black or Hispanic...

He didn’t soften that position on Tuesday.

“... when it comes to meth labs it’s all white people from Maine. When it comes to heroin, it’s just the opposite.

Extended and clarified his remarks.

Democratic leaders said LePage’s apology did not go far enough...

For Republican "crimes", anything short of killing yourself and your family is "insufficient" punishment according to Dems.

“I hope Gov. Paul LePage has a place in the Trump Administration!”

Surrender apology monkeys can go to the back of the line. Plenty of qualified people who aren’t an embarrassment.
