If the U.S. abdicates internet stewardship, the United Nations might take control.
When the Obama administration announced its plan to give up U.S. protection of the internet, it promised the United Nations would never take control. But because of the administrations naiveté or arrogance, U.N. control is the likely result if the U.S. gives up internet stewardship as planned at midnight on Sept. 30.
On Friday Americans for Limited Government received a response to its Freedom of Information Act request for all records relating to legal and policy analysis . . . concerning antitrust issues for the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers if the U.S. gives up oversight. The administration replied it had conducted a thorough search for responsive records within its possession and control and found no records responsive to your request.
Its shocking the administration admits it has no plan for how Icann retains its antitrust exemption. The reason Icann can operate the entire World Wide Web root zone is that it has the status of a legal monopolist, stemming from its contract with the Commerce Department that makes Icann an instrumentality of government.
Antitrust rules dont apply to governments or organizations operating under government control. In a 1999 case, the Second U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals upheld the monopoly on internet domains because the Commerce Department had set explicit terms of the contract relating to the governments policies regarding the proper administration of the domain system.

Once the UN gets to charge countries fees for Internet use they have the power of taxation and become the de facto world government.

Carter: Panama Canal
Obama: Internet, Guantanamo Bay, our nation
Carter gave away the Panama Canal.
Clinton gave away our nuclear secrets.
So obozo had to give away something BIG!!!......
Hillary would give away our Constitfution.........to the highest bidder..........
The future does not belong to websites that slander the prophet of Izlamb.
Heck, she’d give it away to the lowest bidder.
She wants it gone that bad.
Or the local UN Dictator............
ya ,it’s not his to giveaway
Obama is just cover. It’s Congress who can stop this and won’t. I know many of them are in bed with the globalists but for God’s sake, we should have a few honest ones left who will fight for us.
Obama’s not going to back out of this. If Congress doesn’t act, we’ll lose the Internet as we know it.
The Insane UN will put a ton of businesses out of business unless they join the New world Order
Things that make you go Grrrrrrrr
This is huge, this is all. If we ever had a reason to get together to stop something, this is it. Without the Internet we won’t have any real news. We won’t hear Trump’s voice unless it’s through their filters.
I can’t believe we’re all watching this go down without a fight. I’ve Tweeted about 8 people tonight, will contact Congress tomorrow. If anyone has ideas about how to coordinate a response, let me know.
Most of those old fools in congress have no clue what the internet is
I’m contacting as many as I can. This will be Obama’s biggest accomplishment, to make America go dark. Without IPs, no connection. Without domain names, no web site. This is what’ he’s giving away, control over IP addresses and domain names.
“Carter gave away the Panama Canal.”
Panama owed $85 million to a bank owned by Sol Linowitz. Sol Linowitz negotiated the treaty for US taxpayers to give Panama $200 million to take the canal back. Sol got his money back and American taxpayers got screwed, as always.
The world of private enterprise would rise up in wrath if the Web quit. Too many stake holders. A screw up by a UN owned Icann could be one of the best gifts to Donald Trump there could be.
