Trump on undocumented immigrants: 'We are going to get rid of the criminals'
Washington Post ^ | August 27, 2016 | Jose A. DelReal

Posted on 08/28/2016 4:13:57 AM PDT by Zakeet

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump sounded off forcefully on immigration policy and deportations Saturday, vowing to start removing undocumented criminals "within one hour" of taking office, but providing no indication how he would approach the millions of other undocumented immigrants living in the United States.

[Snip]

Trump’s latest comments on immigration policy followed a week of intense confusion over his stance on mass deportations. ... The GOP nominee signaled Wednesday during an interview with Fox News that he would be willing to work with undocumented immigrants on their residency if they paid back taxes. ... On Thursday, during an interview with CNN, he backed away from those statements and clarified that, under his plan, undocumented immigrants would not be eligible to receive legal status without first leaving the United States. That approach is known in policy circles as a "touchback."

The mainstream media morons just don't understand that illegal aliens are criminals ... and given that fact, the Donald's position is unambiguous.

I listened to Trump explain it, and there wasn’t any confusion at all.

The known criminals would go first.

Then they would work to identify others who are here illegally. They will return to their countries and apply for legal status of some kind. He said it isn’t fair to those in line using the legal system to let others jump line illegally.

What’s hard to understand?

It's a reasonable solution to an on going problem.

People think this can be done in a day?? Get real folks.

Simply the dishonest MSM doing an in-kind campaign message for Hillary.

You are saying what Trump said.

He said that they don’t know who the others here illegally are. It will take time to identify them. After that they return to their countries and the good ones can return.

They understand. Their goal is to create confusion.

The [snip] from the article is pure horse dung. He never said anything like it but instead clarified his stance in that they must first leave to even be considered, and they must also go through the same process as all others already in line because as he said, they would have to do it legally.

His overriding point that Cooper could not get him to elaborate on was that he would follow the laws already there. Any changes in the laws were the responsibilities of Congress.

He nailed it perfectly and again, as I said at the time this whole brouhaha started, Trump and Company have the media and establishment exactly where they want them, without any answer other than what is written in the laws. When he makes his policy speech, proposed for sometime later this week, the mediablishment will do everything in the world to spin it but Trump and Kellyanne will be more than prepared to just cite the statute and even have cue cards for the media to read.

The known criminals that have committed other crimes than breaking our immigration laws should NOT be deported.

They should be used as labor to build the border wall. Then deported.

That is EXACTLY how the system should work. I have a lot of friends and neighbors who came here legally, some of whom have tried for years to become citizens, all of them good hard working people. It is a hard slap in the face to them the way the immigration system works now.

Seriesly? Chained and shackled would make for slow progress in building a 30 foot wall.

The media are only trying to spread FUD among Trump supporters. Their only goal is to try and hurt Trump and help Hillary. The facts don’t matter.

I agree. I'm one of the most consistent posters here saying that if Trump backs down on his signature issue, it would be disconcerting.

What Trump did is prioritize. It's a very sane problem-solver approach to implementing an effective program.

Exactly - we seem to have many here that work very hard to find things to bitch about - Trump is laying out a developing plan/strategy to do what we all want and we still have those who "have issues" with him.

Can't fix stupid and we have plenty of it hanging around us.

You might think that if one were a legal immigrant, one might actually LIKE to live without illegal aliens, especially illegal aliens who are also criminals in other respects. If one thought logically, that is.

The first ACT he can do by Executive Order is to ORDER all US agencies and departments to start enforcing existing laws. That means stopping the influx of illegals, deporting their asses right back so quickly and in such numbers they don’t have time to find some La Raza lawyer to get them a stay for a judicial hearing.

I do think he could have those in prisons ready to go quickly. If any country refuses their criminals dump them at the airport there anyway and cut any financial aid to that country.

On day one if he ordered all welfare assistance to immediately stop, we would see lots of homeward bound.
