The Idiot Biden does not know what an existential threat is.
Bingo. Their refusal to take is seriously, and the lengths they will go to in order to support their position (eg. Biden's idiotic statement (*)), make terrorism much more of a threat to the US than it should be. We should be able to shrug it off as a Country, apply our resources and ingenuity, and reuce the threat of terrorism to an inconsequential level.
Not only is that not happening, but attempts to counter terrorism, or even suggestions of how to appropriately or efficiently address it are met with attacks by the likes of Biden. "Racist" "Islamophobe" "Isolationist" etc. etc. are hurled at anyone and everyone who does not embrace their self-destructive message.

Biden is using the term “existential” correctly.
As long as creepy Joe can pedo-scare a young girl or grab-a$$ a middle aged waitress, there is no “threat to America” except him.
Well, hate to say it, but Biden is right.
Terrorism is not an existential threat to the USA.
Neither is murder, theft, drunk driving, etc.
But that doesn’t mean we should tolerate any of this.
But what Biden REALLY meant was that Terrorism is an opportunity to increase the police powers of the State.
Democratics are the biggest and most immediate threat to America.
And neither was the first fire ant. Look at ‘em now!
I actually agree with him on this; OTOH, the Left is an existential threat to our American heritage and culture.
I think that he’s correct. Terrorism only kills a inconsequential number of Americans. The real danger to America is how the government reacts to the threats and the freedom we loose because of the reactions.
