There are two indisputable facts surrounding Target’s decision to allow men to use the same bathrooms and changing rooms as women and little girls.
First, Target’s stock has taken pounding since April. Second quarter earnings fell to $680 million, according to Market Watch. And revenue fell 7.2 percent.
Second, more than 1.4 million consumers have joined American Family Association’s nationwide boycott of the nation’s second-largest discount retailer.
The debate is whether there is a correlation between those two facts.
Target CEO Brian Cornwell told Fortune magazine in May that the transgender bathroom policy has nothing to do with their financial wellbeing.
“To date we have not seen a material or measurable impact on our business,” he said. “Just a handful of stores across the country have seen some activity and have been impacted.”
But American Family Association believes their boycott is having a significant impact on Target’s bottom line.

Dang right the two are correlated the fact that management at Target does not see this is further evidence that the decline will continue!

I’m not a boycotter, and having signed on to the petition, but I have chosen repeatedly since April to shop elsewhere. I like some products at Target better than at its competitors, but I think they should learn who their audience is. They could attract every last LBTGXYZ in the country and if that drives off everyone else, they will very quickly go out of business.

Now this bathroom thingy. I'm not as sexy, or good looking as I once was, but the mere Idea I might be the 'Target' of some transsexual pervert, means this is likely a self-imposed, lifelong ban, meaning I will never, ever, set foot in Target again.

Target is dying before our eyes. Who’d have thought that Target would be the next Sears or JCPenney. That’s what terrible management decisions do to an otherwise viable company. I, for one, haven’t been back and won’t go back.
One day I’m going to go to Walmart and buy a bunch of stuff. Then I’m going to take the receipt to Target and ask to speak with the manager. I’m going to show him the receipt and tell him that I would have bought it all at Target, except for their bathroom policy. And them I’m going to make a copy of the receipt and send it to the Target CEO, and the CEOs of some major companies that hold stock in Target.
In fact, I may set up a website to make it easy for others to do the same. You could upload a copy of your Walmart receipt (or other store). The website would then send the receipts to all the major Target stockholders.
Hmmmm.... I’m gonna have to think about this some more. I may have an idea here!
This time of year is almost as big as Christmas to retailers like Target with all the back-to-school items to be purchased. If people are truly boycotting, it’s got to hurt. I know I don’t shop there.
