My understanding is that they shut down F-22 production, but you’d think that we would want MORE of them and perhaps LESS of the F-35?

This could end up in a very bad place.

Our planes and troops are in Syria illegally.

We really ought to get the hell out before we start WW3.

All this risk because Putin made a fool of Obama by making a deal to pull the chem weapons out of Syria.

Obama had a hard-on to kill Assad and stick the Muslim Brotherhood into Damascus.

This is also why we started meddling in Ukraine.

He who must not be humiliated.

". . . deters foreign military aircraft from harassing U.S. forces."

U.S. forces supporting the murderous Izlam Ick scum is a crime and someone needs to harass them right the Hell out of there.

What's the logic in supporting the jihadi militants, everyone with brain one knows they're not "freedom fighters".

Imho, an incident like this could easily escalate into war. A war that might get us all killed.

History could rhyme again...

These were Syrian pilots which is probably why our Pentagon showed bravado... The Syrians are operating over their own country. And the Russians are in Syria legally at the request of the legal government. What is the legal status of our forces in Syria?

this whole story makes no sense

the Syrians would not be attacking Kurdish forces unless the so-called Kurds were part of the islamic radicals

The Su-24 is a bomber with limited fighter abilities - an Su-27 would be a different matter altogether, but they are not operated by Syrians only Russians and were with drawn some months ago, unless some are still hanging around Tartus.

Hell, an F-15c could have done this.

But not invisibly.

The Su-24 was introduced into service 46 years ago. Nixon and Brezhnev were still in office. Even discounting that it was two Syrian pilots vs. the U.S. Air Force, against an F-22 Raptor these encounters probably left a nasty stain and aroma in the Sukhoi cockpits.

I hope that the anti-American usurper in our White House knows what he’s doing. Intercepting Syrian jets in Syrian air space is an act of war. The druggie is playing a dangerous game with the lives of our pilots, soldiers, and special forces.
