The state attorney in Sumter county went too far; when the end comes I will not shed a tear for whatever barbarity comes to these people and their families. In my state I’ve seen similar cases of dangerous animals to include rattlesnakes, bear, etc. being a clear and direct threat to children and pets with same outcome by cold-hearted lawyers. A man should be able to protect his family, livestock and property without reservation against dangerous creatures.

If a car runs over the state attorney in Sumter County, I say jury nullification for whomever ran him over.

Having kept bad company as an egg, he was a good young gator just trying to get his life together.

Sounds like the prosecutor has some bigger agenda when it comes to this particular defendant.

Alligators shouldn’t be protected any longer. They are plentiful and no longer threatened.

Citizens really need to demand their legislators to legalize flogging for state attorneys who waste taxpayers’ money on such frivolous prosecution.

Even after reading the entire article, it is not clear WHICH state is being referred to. Typical, sloppy journalism. Apparently, I gather from exploring the “local news” website, this happened in Florida. Maybe that should be Flori-duh.

WTF? Like we don’t have enough ‘gators in Florida? Over 3,000 in the lake behind our house (seriously).

How did anyone find out about the dead gator? This guy obviously lives “out” somewhere. There was a hospital visit that had to be explained but no one had to admit to the shooting of the gator.

My guess is someone went bragging. Law enforcement can and does overlook many things when they are not public. My local sheriff used to tell me and my friends “if you don’t draw attention to yourself how would I notice?”.

Was that gator really going to take down a horse? I smell a horse pile.
