Obama Decree Targets Gunsmiths and Online Firearm Information
The New American ^ | 17 August 2016 | Alex Newman

Posted on 08/17/2016 2:32:22 PM PDT by detective

When Obama vowed to use his “pen and phone” to circumvent Congress and impose his will on America, he was actually telling the truth for once. In the latest example of lawless decrees coming from the executive branch, the Obama administration is taking aim at gunsmiths and free speech. Basically, if a recent “regulation” disguised as "guidance" is not stopped, gunsmithing — an American tradition stretching back centuries that was crucial in the War for Independence — will be effectively made illegal, experts say.

Another controversial element of the decree would purport to unconstitutionally criminalize many forms of gun-related speech on the Internet. If not withdrawn, the illegal Obama decree would purport to shred the rights protected by the Constitution's First and Second Amendments by making it illegal to post any “how-to” information about guns online. It would also effectively make all gun-related information on the Internet a crime because it could be accessed by foreigners.

The Obama administration is trying to undo the 2nd Amendment.

Hopefully, someone will stop them.

It would be “interesting” if the cops ever tried to close a gun store. More than likely they’d be there defending it against the Feds.

Both Brownell's and MidwayUSA have "How To" videos on their sites for common tasks such as build an AR-15 lower, installing a barrel, installing a muzzle device e.g flash supporessor, changing an extractor spring on the AR-15 bolt. The videos are helpful and support sales of the parts offered on those sites to hobby builders. Simple items such as Magpul flip up sights come with a little paper insert about "ITAR" i.e. you can't export the parts or the installation instructions. It's really over the top, heavy handed BS.

Exactly. Too much knowledge out there. Those artisans could then just start working in basements.
All on the barter system, too.

“Obama Decree Targets Gunsmiths...”

Patriotic gunsmiths and gun owners target godless tyrants.

Um... Maybe it’s just dumb ole me but how is this “decree” even enforceable? As chief executive of the executive branch of government Odumbo can command federal employees and contractors to do or to not do something but non-governmental gunsmiths? Only Congress can make laws that are enforceable apon the citizenry. Odumbo can say whatever he wants about anything but, again, how are his executive orders enforceable on us? To me this is much ado about nothing. Someone correct me if I am wrong here...

The first amendment isn’t looking good here either.

If I still had unlimited bandwidth, I’d download every useful bit of firearm related video from You Tube, and the photos and text of every useful bit of info I could find on the firearms forums, just to have it archived.

Two thoughts:

1. The NRA, Gun Owners of the US, et al should have a lawsuit ready. And ask the “decree” be stayed until a final ruling.

2. What would happen if everybody ignored this? Are there enough enforcement officials to enforce this?
