Does anyone here know who Kim Rohde is? She has medaled in the Summer Olympics since 1996. That's SIX Olympics.

Why haven't we all heard it trumpeted from the rooftops that there was a WOMAN who has medaled in SIX different Olympics?

Because her sport of choice is the double trap and skeet shooting and she is a pro 2nd Amendment advocate, that's why.

Her “barrier to coverage” is that nobody gives a damn about her sport. Her success has been mentioned plenty, but in the end shooting sports at the Olympics are one of the many “below the fold” sports, 4th tier and largely only mentioned when some rare feat (like medaling 6 times in a row) happens. It’s right there with the steeple chase, speed walking, canoeing, trampoline and all those other sports even the most hard core Olympics watcher has no idea are happening. Gymnastics on the other hand is the most popular sport of the event and pays the bills. It ain’t politics, it’s the sport. There’s a bunch of people doing remarkable this in Rio that you’re not hearing about because the first thing you’d say is “that’s a sport?!”.
