I enjoyed watching Eleanor during the 2004 election night coverage. Looked like she'd been drinking *really* heavily.

From Wikipedia (I just looked):
In answering a letter on investing in a hairpiece manufacturer, he quipped that "if your money seems to be hair today and gone tomorrow, we'll try to make it grow back by giving the bald facts on how to get your investments toupee."

So sorry to hear. John McLaughlin was active until the end. We should all be so fortunate.
To: wbill
A bit of trivia: Eleanor is related to the late actor Montgomery Clift.
He got better reviews.

One of the few regular shows on PBS that was worth watching.

Huh. Just last month I looked him up to see if he was still around.
Good for him. I enjoyed his program. Especially the day in November 1994 when Eleanor Clift almost wept and/or puked on set over the Gingrich Revolution.
May we see the like again soon.

Originally a real conservative, he steadily like so many moved leftward over the years. And will continue to do so going forward.

Next issue - Rita Hayworth or Ava Gardner, who would you rather nail? I disqualify myself, because I've done them both."
Speaking solely for myself, I'd prefer Rita Hayworth. But that's just me. :-)

His program was near to the last on the Friday afternoon network feed schedule and I would actually monitor it.
Any time Eleanor Rodham Clift was put in her place or flipped out was a good time

Yes, Rukeyser. Started watching him in the 70s. Good, sound, financial advice that stood the test of time. Had guests on who believed in investing, rather than stock trading.

Her first husband was Clift's brother.
I used to love the McLaughlin Group.
Sometime in the Clinton or Bush years I just got tired of Eleanor and all the shouting.
The show was good when Fred and Morton and Mort were on it.
Jack Germond was kind of a dick.
I don't think McLaughlin's heart was really in it the last few years.
