Because that is SOP here! The perp / the victims are NEVER identified by full name. Their pictures are ALWAYS pixelated.

the police released the name
the mayor of the town the kid was born and raised in knows him
his father is a teacher in the town
the paper knows the name - BUT - it is against the law to publish it!
He’s white and not middle eastern or north african, that’s all that can be determined. His last name could be anything, could be a convert, could be a lone random fiend.
