State school board members are looking to an outsider to lead Alabama public schools, naming the former Massachusetts education secretary as the next school superintendent over candidates who have worked extensively in state classrooms.

Is the new boss arriving with carpet bag in hand?
Geesh. SMH.
You don’t apparently believe that professional “educators” are a major problem with American education.
It doesn’t matter who they hire: nothing changes in “education”.
BIG MISTAKE
Something smells with him:
“Sentance has applied for a number of other state superintendent jobs in the last seven years. Sentance was finalist for Kentucky education commissioner in 2009, but lost out. He was considered for Nevadas top school post in 2013, according to Las Vegas Sun, but lost out due to his Common Core opposition. Later that year he applied for but was passed over as Nebraska education commissioner. Earlier this year, Sentance was interviewed for Ohio state superintendent, but did not get the job.”
Well, it won’t be long until little girls in the 3rd grade are FORCED to draw pictures of erect, ejaculating penises.
It’s the Massachusetts way.
Count.
On.
It.
It doesnt matter who they hire: nothing changes in education.
I have wondered about this over and over again.
The landmark study of educational problems, “A Nation at Risk”, was done in 1983. What major educational reforms have occurred in the 33 years since that report?
And many problems in our schools have been well known for decades, and didn’t need a formal study to bring to our attention. For example, we have known for many decades about problems in our inner city schools. We know what the problems are, and we know what should happen to solve these problems. But have we ever implemented some obvious solutions to said problems???
Another rhetorical question comes to mind: Is the state of public education better nowadays, since Jimmy Carter created the Department of Education in 1979???
I think I would agree with you, that nothing changes in education. And I would love to be proven wrong by seeing the reforms they make in Alabama’s schools.
As an educator, I believe it is the “liberal” educators that are the problem. Why would I replace an experienced educator with a lawyer who has never taught in a classroom. That makes a heck of a lot of sense.
We are ruled by lawyers. It is disgusting.
Reconstruction continues.
Massachusetts? Get ready for the homosexual agenda, both barrels.
Looks like the children of Alabama will soon understand the term “fisting”. Unless they give this Yankee the heave ho.
“...but lost out due to his Common Core opposition.”
Thank you. I had missed the above ^ tidbit. His opposition to common core is the bottom line for Peters’ and Bell’s vote.
Betty Peters is a Business major/accountant. Stephanie Bell is an English major/reporter. Matthew Brown is a lawyer - no other info on his SBOE web page. As a member of the Air Force, Mary Scott Hunter was a prosecutor, a civil law attorney, and a medical law consultant. Governor Bentley is a doctor and is publicly-known as an adulterer.
Of course they can't read or write but surely that's Bush's fault.
They’ve not been educating our children for at least 30 years.
“... and Mary Scott Hunter ...”
The new super must be a Common Core supporter.
Run for the school board ... I did and though it is a vipers den, there’s a certain element of fun attached to calling them commies and they don’t deny it.
