IMHO, this is the terminal generation.

I have almost no doubt this is true. And my position is not US centric. The world has gone mad. Common decency rules in place for millennia are being thrown out in the space of half a century. Sure, people may not have always obeyed them, but at least we agreed on them.

I came up with a theory years back I called the 70 year itch. It said that every 70 years, give or take, a society goes through a massive upheaval. The guys who wrote the old rule books from 70 years ago are all dead and society has come unhinged. We get a revolution followed 70 years later by a civil war, followed 70 years later by a great depression and a world war, followed 70 years later by terrorism and economic collapse.

A freeper pointed out to me that a book was written called the Fourth Turning that better articulates that same theory, though they pin it at about 80 years. This is the crisis point and yeah, society will change. But if some heroes step up it's not too late. For heavens sake, imagine what people thought about our future in the 1860s! But it's up to us to do all we can to make sure we don't spin off in the wrong direction completely.

Starting in the 1960s, the values that made for civility came under attack.

Yes, all according to plan. The goal was to undermine Western civilization.

Excellent essay!

You are so right.

This country needs a religious revival.

The need or the desire?

I have seen many two-income couples who have just become accustomed to a lifestyle that needs two incomes when their children would be much better off if the mother stayed home managing the household and taking care of her own children instead of paying a stranger to raise her precious babies.

While a lot of your post rings true, one major component for my strong belief was not present in either the 1860s or 1940s (or even before that for almost 2,000 years).

Israel.

Now back to your 70 year itch. We’re very close to the 70th year of her rebirth. There’s a lot of discussion in the Prophecy Community regarding the Matthew 24 account of the “generation” meaning. Some say it’s 70 years, others say it’s 80. Some dispute the starting point as 1948 and others say 1967 (Capture of Jerusalem).

Regardless, we’re very close. Even secular folks notice something is up.

LGBT and momosexual marriage are not in a 70 or 80 year cycle. The rejection of any values at all is not in a cycle.

That said, it does make sense when we are in a cycle. When we are at the end of the Church age and at the cusp of end times biblical prophesy, it will be very different...

...as it appears to be now, and only getting worse.

It was during the 1960’s that the Progressives/Left completed their grip on education, government administration, and the media and popular entertainment, in the West. The rest, as they say, is history.
These institutions are now so entrenched in their way of thinking that I think nothing short of a revolution will change things.

Yes, two-parent households are proven to be the optimal arrangement for developing civil, productive individuals.

As long as they're conservative. Children of liberal parents seem very confused. If they don't "turn right and go straight," they either die out or flip out.

"I came up with a theory years back I called the 70 year itch. It said that every 70 years, give or take, a society goes through a massive upheaval. We get a revolution followed 70 years later by a civil war, followed 70 years later by a great depression and a world war, followed 70 years later by terrorism and economic collapse."

A freeper pointed out to me that a book was written called the Fourth Turning that better articulates that same theory, though they pin it at about 80 years.

If you're interested in why 70 is special, I selected a few paragraphs from a Dvar Torah. Underlines are mine:

Mahara”l of Prague writes that the number seven represents the entirety of this natural world, which was created in seven days (six days of creation, completed on the Sabbath) and which will last for seven thousand years (six thousand years, plus a thousand-year Sabbath - see Talmud Sanhedrin 97a). And any number times ten represents its expanded full potential – so that seventy of something represents all the potential facets of that thing in the natural world.

Mahara”l writes further that the number seventy is critical in the turning points of history: After the Flood, seventy nations descended from Noach; seventy languages emerged at the building of the Tower of Babel; the Jewish nation began with the seventy people who came with Jacob to Egypt; and in the World to Come, the seventy prime nations will recognize G-d as the One and Only Ruler of the world.

.
.
.

I will conclude with one more parallel of the number seventy, which deals with the final “turning point” in history:

Psalm 20, which begins with the words “Lamnatzei’ach Mizmor L’Dovid – For the Conductor, a psalm of David …”, is recited daily towards the end of the Shacharis prayer service. In this psalm, we beseech G-d that He answer us when we are in great pain and distress. The Vilna Gaon in Yahel Ohr (2:119:2) notes that there are seventy words in this Psalm, corresponding to the seventy years of travails and suffering – referred to in the classic texts as the “birth pangs of Messiah” - that the Jewish people will have to experience before the Messiah comes and redeems us.

80 (10 x 8) is special too, but at a much higher level (transcends the natural world).

I too think things are "terminal" based on the REAL calendar, prophesy, increases in Evil and Chaos, Rule of Law loss, Esau & Ishmael merging, and the physical & spiritual trajectory of The Nations.

To a certain extent I blame the whites for the decadence of today’s black society. So many whites abandoned conservative principles in pursuit of pleasure & self-interest. Where the dominant culture goes, the rest of the country follows.

Hummm....need to contemplate that idea, let it swoosh around the ole' brain for a while...

I'm tempted to say that's complete BS, but you may have a point...

I do see white youth imitating ghetto culture, so at some point they’ll adopt the morals. (I use the word “ghetto” specifically to differentiate from conservative, middle-class blacks).
