Could House Speaker Paul Ryan Follow Eric Cantor Into Political Oblivion?
The New American ^ | Bob Adelmann | 05 August 2016

Posted on 08/07/2016 1:41:07 AM PDT by detective

A dark horse who appeared out of the Wisconsin woodwork, businessman Paul Nehlen, was reportedly neck-and-neck with House Speaker Paul Ryan (shown) in the primary polls taken in early July. Pundits pooh-poohed those polls as being unreliable, but Ryan has since adjusted his primary campaign strategy to keep the public from asking him “unscripted” questions, queries that Nehlen keeps raising. Ryan doesn’t want to become another Eric Cantor, the former House Majority Leader who lost to a nobody in 2014.

Nehlen suddenly became a national figure and symbol of the country’s populist uprising on Tuesday when Donald Trump turned Ryan’s words into a quasi-endorsement of Nehlen. Back in May, when asked if he was ready to endorse Donald Trump for the presidency, Ryan waffled: “I’m just not ready to do that at this point. I’m not there right now.” Trump trumpeted his response immediately

I think what Mr. Trump did is very much what my dad do.

Let’s say There are some people in southern Maine, lawyers, DHS workers, and some court personnel that took a woman’s child.

While donating to their campaigns, while patting them on the back, while publicly commenting on how great they are, he would be going about to absolutely bankrupt them.

We think that is what Mr. Trump is doing with McTratior. Bath house Ryan and ayotte.

Do you have a recent poll showing that “most people support Ryan”?

Love your wishful thinking but it just isn’t so - people know who both are - many think the fraud you know (Ryan) is better than the fraud you do not (Nehlen). You can wait until Wednesday but a 80 or better point lead for Ryan is not going to change all that much and flip to Nehlen polling at 14 points.

Doesn’t matter what your opinion of a politican’s favor of the week is - it matters what his constituents think and they like him ... or dislike ‘businessman’ Paul Nehlen more (who is a fraud to begin with).

The place to beat Ryan is for speaker. Trump supporters should oust Ryan from the speakership in the house.

Ryan is heavily favored in his district and most people there like him and dislike the other guy - just saying.

Don’t know where you get your info. I think you are wrong.
I am from Wisconsin and don’t see any Ryan sympathy or Nehlen hatred.

Really - do you live in his district or somewhere upstate? See here for Ryan’s 80 point lead: http://www.remingtonresearchgroup.com/

Oh, yeah, Ryan is so popular in his state which is why Obama won it in 2012!

1) Trump endorses Nehlen, Nehlen wins. Hooray! 2) Trump endorses Nehlen, Nehlen loses. Speaker of the House is now a very public political enemy who has a lot of control over President Trump's legislative agenda. 3) Trump endorses Ryan, Ryan wins. Trump has some clout with Ryan and who now owes Trump a favor or two. 4) Trump endorses Ryan, Ryan loses. Trump doesn't have to deal with the weasel and has drawn the ire (such as it may be) of a freshman congressman from Wisconsin. Endorsing Nehlen is the riskiest of all four possibilities.

And the Uniparty wins again - One RINO supporting another RINO

I live close enough that I see/hear the same media, and all indications are that Ryan will win, probably with a big margin. They love Ryan. It’s those outside the district who have a problem with him.

It would have been a lot easier if Trump didn’t endorse Lyin’ Ryan. It would have been a shoo-in if Trump endorsed Nehlen.

Not hardly...

What makes you think Trump endorsing Nehlen would have put Ryan out the door...

Trump didn't win Wisconsin...it really wasn't even close, but he did really good considering the state...

Ryan easily won his district, he was a shoo-in...

So people in Ryan district who have elected and re-elected Ryan for years, who when they had a chance to to vote for Trump didn't are now going to put Nehlen in as easy as pie...?

Remember all politics are local...

I am going to vote for Trump. I will crawl over smelly Democrats to do so.

But Trump threw Nehlen under the bus. He did. Don't turn turn your head away or make scenarios to justify it. That is what happened.

I think Trumps gut instinct was to endorse Nehlen but his handlers got to him. GO WITH YOUR GUT TRUMP.
