New York Gov. Andrew Cuomos signature economic development program may have created fewer jobs than the state says.
The Democratic governors administration released a report on Start-UP NY that says the program has generated 408 jobs since its 2013 launch.
But a close look at the database accompanying the report puts the number at 395, and a lawmaker says other discrepancies suggest dozens of jobs may have been double-counted.

Left the state in 1980 best thing I ever did
Run by democrats for ever....
Upstate is like Detroit
except the Albany are we’re all the government workers are
Did they ever figure out where the millions from HUD went while he was Secretary?
How much did each of these "jobs" cost?
"Start-Up NY tax breaks likely to top $100 million in 2015," by Jimmy Vielkind, Politico, 02/10/15
"Can START-UP NY jumpstart the Upstate economy?," Community & Regional Development Institute, Cornell University:
"The Governors Budget Office estimated that the program would cost the State $323 million through 2017."
So it appears that it will cost about $750,000 per job created...IF the jobs are legit and stay around longer than the program lives (which is highly unlikely).
Get the GD government out of the way and let prosperity flourish! Freedom!
The “Gift to Elan Musk” in the form of the Solar City plant in Buffalo (the only part of Upstate that voted to re-elect Prince Andrew) is now estimated to create 500 jobs. That is $1.5 Million taxpayer dollars per job. Meanwhile this week WARN notices were filed stating over 600 jobs will be lost within 90 days. http://www.labor.ny.gov/app/warn/
I hear NY ads very frequently so it is assuring that the program created at most a bit more than 400 jobs -- it means that 99.99% of job creators in the USA aren't buying his malarkey.
