Veto Gunmageddon is a group of volunteers dedicated to overturning the recent draconian gun laws passed by the California legislature and signed by Governor Jerry Brown. We are gun owners from all over California who watched with disbelief as the California Legislature bypassed normal procedure to pass strict and clearly unconstitutional gun laws.
We have come together and formed VETO GUNMAGEDDON, CITIZENS OF CALIFORNIA WHO ARE OPPOSED TO PROPOSITION 63, ASSEMBLY BILLS 1135, 1511, 1695, 857 AND SENATE BILLS 880, 1235 AND 1446. FPPC#1387279.
We are 100% volunteer, and our primary focus is to exercise the peoples veto (a referendum) to put all 7 laws in front of the voters to decide, and hopefully overturn these unconstitutional laws.
Our goal is to have 7 referendum petitions signed by 365,000 registered voters by Sept 29th to get these referendums on the Nov 8th ballot.
We're requesting donations in order to print and distribute these petitions, which can be found at your local gun stores and ranges.
LOCATION MAP NOW AVAILABLE!
Hundreds of signing locations have been registered!
HOWEVER, WITHOUT YOUR DONATIONS THEY'LL HAVE NO PETITIONS TO SIGN!
You've helped raise $24,585 of the $70,000 necessary to get this job done.
The state legislature of California, and especially the state governor, have proven beyond any shadow of a doubt that they have absolutely no interest in, much less any comprehension of, the US Constitution.
The same thing is happening in Massachusetts, with the diktats of AG Healey.
That is, if you can’t get what you want due to constitutional restraints, simply ignore or nullify the constitution. With democrats holding the reins of power, no one utters a word of protest at this utter betrayal of America’s bedrock principles.
Bump. Have green, will travel.
Surprised the NRA has not stepped up and paid for the petition printing. Maybe they see it as a lost cause given how “un-free” California now is.
BFLR
I don’t think so. The NRA has stepped up to provide gun
clubs in California like the one I belong to with legal
representation to advise us on how to handle lead issues
with respect to the efforts of the State Water Resources
Board to rein in lead from trap and rifle/pistol ranges.
California gun owners do provide the NRA with significant
funds.
Hopefully they will be ready available at the Crossroads of the West Shows. There’s one every weekend in CA and about 10000 people attend each day.
The OP says that the goal is to gather signatures to put 7 initiatives on the ballot, each to repeal one of the 7 recent bills that infringe on the RKBA. What is the reason for to present 7 initiatives? Couldn’t it be done with one petition, and one ballot initiative?
I’m glad people are working to repeal these laws. But I have wondered whether one sweeping bill might be more easily sold. For example, I have thought it could be easier to rally support behind an initiative that removed the 2-class system we have that imposes restrictions on citizens while exempting law enforcement. Instead, what if the proposal was to remove the special exemptions granted to LEO by expanding the exemptions to all citizens. In this manner the selling point would not be a head-on attack on the new firearm laws per se, rather it would be asking people to vote to treat all people equally under the law. In theory and from a marketing standpoint it could include non-firearm exemptions too. I think people would be more inclined to vote for equality under the law than they would be to specifically vote to repeal the magazine restrictions or the new ‘no bullet button’ regulation.
Per the California constitution, a ballot proposition (in contrast to a legislative bill) may address only one topic. Hence the multiple propositions. I’ll be all in, but this is a bigger reach than the term “long shot” implies.
FYI:
Federal Civil Rights Lawsuit Filed to Strike Down Gun Control Exemptions for Retired Law Enforcement Officers
"...favorable treatment [under the gun law] applies to a wide list of retired government employees whose jobs involved enforcing the law, including retired IRS agents, retired employees of the California Fish and Game Department, and retirees from the Department of Parks and Recreation..."
Don’t forget the wretched AG Healey, who just banned the AR-15 in Massachusetts. Next stop: all semi-auto rifles.
