NOAA Announces Plan To Silence US Oil Rigs, Dredges and Ships

The ocean has gotten noisier for decades, with man-made racket from oil drilling, shipping and construction linked to signs of stress in marine life that include beached whales and baby crabs with scrambled navigational signals.

The United States aims to change that as a federal agency prepares a plan that could force reductions in noise-making activities, including oil exploration, dredging and shipping off the nation’s coast.

If the government really wanted to tackle noise, they'd fix the HUGE mess FAA created with it's "NextGen" flight route changes in major metroplexes all over the US. Millions of citizens are furious about aircraft highways being built right over there heads where none existed before. All to benefit the airlines with possibly faster routes and to reduce carbon output.

It's totally ridiculous to tackle noise where this is no problem (offshore) and ignore the huge noise problem they created in cities, towns, and suburbs all over the US.

And here you thought it was just about ship sonar.

The left destroys everything it touches.

There's a construction site about a half-mile from my house.

All day long, I can hear the stupid beep-beep-beep from those crazy back-up beepers that Carter made them put on construction equipment.

Of course, they have to be loud in order to be heard above the din produced by three hundred horsepower Diesel engines.

So I've always wondered, what's the decibel rating of those crazy beepers, and is it above the safe sound-pressure level allowed for operation in close proximity to human beings. I mean, you can easily hear them for half a mile.

“....So I’ve always wondered, what’s the decibel rating of those crazy beepers....”

Can’t tell you that, but the guy who invented the damned things (Backup beepers) I met working on his house many years ago. His name was Chuck Viall. I doubt he’s still alive as he was elderly then. Great guy by the way. His wife was a knockout. I think she was Danish.

Yes they do. Everything. Worse than two year olds.

Thanks to this monstrosity of government meddling, I'm now in the flight path of both O'Hare and Midway airport. I seldom used to see planes out my way below 20,000 feet. In the last six months they're maybe 3,000 feet up and it's constant noise!

They're so low, I can hear the pilots talking to air traffic control over my stereo!

If the liberal jerks can do it, they’ll have the unwashed masses living in ghettos while they live it up in mansions. But there will be “social justice”, and they will have thier “utopia”.

I used to live at the beach for many years. I was always worried that the sound of waves crashing on the beach kept the baby crabs awake at night. I hoped that they could get enough sleep and wouldn't be too stressed the next day.

Less noise in the ocean will make our submarines a lot easier to find. I wonder whose foundation will be paid for this.

I would hate those crabs to be crabby due to lack of sleep.

We were doing some work setting off small explosives in a river. There were a few salmon still left, and the Indian fisheries guy was there watching. We set off a charge when we thought no fish were nearby. Well, I saw a tail flicker about 10 feet from the blast. Walked over, and there that salmon still was - just resting in the small pool - unphased from the blast.

Did another job and they wouldn’t allow a small blast (about 4 shotgun shells) within 100 feet of the river! The trucks rattling over the bridge made more noise.

More rules & regs by our insane Prez and his corrupt regime.

The idiocracy has arrived.

99% of all species ever existing have gone extinct, and the world and everything currently living on it has survived for 4.4543 Billion years without the benefit of the incompetence of NOAA.

Hope we don't have to wait that long again before NOAA goes extinct...
