I’m a Millennial Working Mom. Ivanka Trump Spoke for Me
Breitbart ^ | 7/22/2016 | Julia Pollak

Posted on 07/28/2016 11:36:06 AM PDT by GilGil

Ivanka Trump gave a truly impressive speech at the Republican National Convention. She came across as competent, credible, sensible and strong. As I write this, I have my 11-month-old in my office with me, as I rush to finish my work before the weekend. My husband is out of town and I have Navy Reserve duty tomorrow. My babysitter missed a day this week because she was sick.

For millennial women, who are the new generation of moms and workers, balancing everything is hard. And Ivanka spoke directly to me.

One thing is absolutely for sure! Chelsea is no match for Ivanka. Ivanka and the other Trump kids are closing the deal for their dad.

Maybe as a counter attack tonight right after katy perry sings, a special guest appearance by the kardouchians might change this young ladies mind. Srsly, we have endured watching most of it and if I were one of them, I’d be sooooo frickin’ embarrassed about now. The broadway stars thing-—lame, leni kravitz——lame, some ‘stars’ doing a stupid we love hildabama song on video (x2)——lame. Really, it’s like a red carpet hollyweird award show or something. Only even more un-interesting.

(grit your teeth and swallow hard, because this is going to be a VERY tough one for us all to swallow.....)

That means we are going to have to make our peace with some level of government-funded child care assistance if we ever hope to win elections.

ack-poo......there, I said it.

Dear lady I am sure you are doing what you can for your child. But you should have a husband providing for you and your baby and if you don’t your parents should step in. You should be taking care of that baby not anonymous child care givers. This times thenourview of family. People are not machines. We need our families particularly when we are little.

I’m stunned how many “conservatives” are suddenly ok with the government funding maternity leave and child care because a Trump advocates for it.

The author didn’t make a great case. She just praised Ivanka.

I’m not much into women dragging their babies into the workplace - especially offices. They often force support staff into being baby sitters. Not nice, not professional.

Hmm. Hildabama. Has a nice ring to it. Hope it catches on as well as Crooked Hillary.

I’m not saying I’m for it. Only that I’ve come to the realistic conclusion that we’re never going to win elections if we flat-out oppose it. I don’t like it but that’s how it is.

Millenials are plugged-in enough to know that we’re the only western country that does not offer some form of paid maternity leave. If we want to counter that we’ve got a hard two-decade slog ahead of us re-educating them all on basic economics.

The current Forbes has a long article on Celebrity earnings.

Kim Kardacian has a game ap that apparently simulates her real life. It is a tremendous hit. It grossed $44 million in 2015. That’s what we have come to

I’m stunned how many “conservatives” are suddenly ok with the government funding maternity leave and child care because a Trump advocates for it.

The composition of America's workforce has changed a lot in recent decades. These are practical issues that can be addressed Constitutionally, and Donald Trump has made is very clear that the states can handle many of these isues.

So worry about this relatively minor issue after Trump gets elected.

On balance, Donald Trump's policy positions are the most conservative we've seen in any GOP nominee since Reagan.

So enough with the hand-wringing concern troll routine. This isn't an ideological election, and conservatives (who are still a yuge portion of Trump's base) need to understand that.

If Trump wins, he will have made demographic inroads that will relegate the Democratic party to minority status for decades to come.

We're trying to elect a President here. We need to keep our eyes on the ball and realize that this Revolution represents the potential for a radical political realignment which, overwhelmingly, will accrue to the benefit of conservatives, as well as the People as a whole.

Stay focused and be practical.

Vote Trump!

“I’m stunned how many “conservatives” are suddenly ok with the government funding maternity leave and child care because a Trump advocates for it.”

We're not ok with government-funded maternity leave, and we don't believe it is going to happen under Trump. What may happen under Trump is that middle and upper income people may get bigger tax breaks for what we pay for childcare. That, most of us could live with, since we are paying through taxes for free and subsidized childcare for the poor.

“For millennial women, who are the new generation of moms and workers, balancing everything is hard.”

Perhaps no generation in the history of America or even mankind has had had to contend with the complexities of balancing everything thing. For the Millennials, life is harder than anyone in any other generation could even begin to imagine.

We need to do more to respect the hard lives that Millennials have had to endure throughout their lives.

We owe it to the Millennials to build a Millennial Monument on the National Mall.

Yes, even if it means tearing down the Vietnam Memorial or the Washington Monument or WWII Memorial, we owe it to the Millennials to build a monument in their honor.

I don’t disagree with you. I am simply making the observation that 2 years ago, FR would be lit up with people gnashing their teeth at another socialist program or mandate and even some folks yelling at women to get back in the kitchen or how the world went to crap when women were treated like human beings.

Suddenly, the beautiful and eloquent Ivanka Trump gets on stage talking about how we all need to be ok with a little socialism and everyone nods in agreement.

I am not for it either. However, we got ourselves into this welfare mess incrementally, and we are going to have to get ourselves out of it incrementally. I’m all for paying for childcare for kids in LIEU of welfare. While we shouldn’t have to pay for ANY of it, including public school, I do believe it is a step in the right direction. It’s just a step though. The key is, let’s spend LESS money overall by paying for MORE childcare with the goal of not having to pay for any of it in the future.

Dear, I’m 8 months post-partum, a full time employee, a full time care giver to a widowed disabled mother, a wife and horribly under-rested.

If anyone would benefit from paid maternity leave it’s me. I’m not playing a “concerned troll”. I’m simply making an observation about the electorate and how quickly their ideas change because of one man.

You don’t have to like it and I’m well aware this election is between a wildabeast and lion. I’m voting Trump. And I plan to hold him accountable for all the decisions he makes. I hope everyone that votes for him feels the same.

I’m confused how we get ourselves out of a welfare state by creating more welfare?

You should be taking care of that baby not anonymous child care givers

Agreed (while realizing there are some cases where a mom has absolutely no choice - and I'm not talking about having to give up that new car - I see plenty of those pulling up to the daycare down the street - or vacations, etc. if they quit working to raise their children).

Whenever I see precious little ones interacting with their mothers I am spellbound at the wondrous relationship between moms (and dads!) and their children. I am so thankful for my stay-at-home wife would never have considered for a second letting anonymous care-givers raise her children during the crucial first several years.

There is no substitute for a mom, and woe be upon the GOP if it ever embraces socialist institutionalized child raising.
