Major error in subtitles in movie Kabhi-Khushi-Kabhi-Gham - Big Indian Hit Movie (a long time ago)

This article is about technical errors in the immensely popular Indian movie Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham. The movie is filmed VERY well, but has quite a few technical errors. It is still appealing (especially to Indians) due to some culture reasons I won't cover here. However, in the Netflix version I just watched, there is a GLARING error. In the dialogue, as some women are talking, one says "By the will of god" and it is translated "Allah". Then later, in reference to a HINDU holiday, the woman says, per the caption, "...celebrating EID" which is a MUSLIM holiday. The problem is with the captions, but this is no small error. I guarantee you Hindus don't appreciate it and some muslims would be enraged (doesn't take much to enrage them) that Indian gods are referred to as "Allah". Looks like muslims have infiltrated just about every corner of society here to spread positive propaganda about islam.

Just watched it and couldn't believe what I was reading in the captions. Bunch of other errors, but they're not nearly as bad as mixing up Hinduism with islam. Wow.

It’s just a movie.

IIRC, there was sect that mixed Hinduism and Islam. I think it was called “Thugee.”

Those two religions are so different it’s hard to believe they’d make a mistake! Hinduism, for all its faults, at least provides color and joy. I live in an area which has a huge Hindu population. They’re completely peaceful although I’m unhappy that Diwali now gets more fireworks than the 4th...

Subtitling is becoming a big industry in countries like India (Indian languages to foreign and vice versa). A lot of companies are of the quick-buck variety, so quality control would be nonexistent. A committed Islamist would have little difficulty putting these tidbits in and getting away with it.

Or at least Islam sympathizers/promoters.

Well, yeah. But, you know, the muslims get upset about EVERYTHING, so why can’t I?

That brought back memories of when I worked in Kuwait before the Gulf War. Late at night in the hotel, BORED, so I turn on the TV. It says volumes as to how hard up I was in that I watched a full-length Hindi movie with Arabic subtitles - and didn’t have a clue as to what it was about.

In one short segment in the middle of the movie, out of nowhere, a guy grumbles that with all his education, he still was not getting anywhere - in English. Then, everything went back to Hindi again.
